BM 2010-03-25 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of Meeting March 25, 2010 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on March 25, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Craig Pritzlaff, Shannon Olmstead, David Caviness, Charles Dart, Samuel Duff, Brandi Todd and Carole Gayler. City Liaison Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator, and Kami Marcom, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present. Item 1: Call meeting to order  Craig Pritzlaff called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Item 2: Consider approval of February 18, 2010, minutes  Motion was made and carried approving the February 18, 2010 minutes. Item 3: Citizens’ Forum  No citizens were present. Item 4: Report from subcommittee regarding review of environmental policies, ordinances and requirements  Charles Dart reported that the subcommittee met a second time and reviewed environmental policies and ordinances within Coppell. City of Coppell Staff was commended on their responses to recommendations made. Item 5: Discussion of Board’s Earthfest activities and update from Shannon Olmstead on educational booths.  Shannon Olmstead reported that some booths are finding it difficult figuring out how they fit into the theme of Earthfest, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”  Sam Duff recapped a new promotion happening at his place of employment - a new tree will be planted for each new customer converting to EPA.  Cristal Rollins reported that there are 1,553 volunteers for the Earthfest clean-up thth and that participants may pick up T-shirts for Clean Coppell on April 8 and 9. Item 6: Discussion of Adopt-A-Location  Cristal Rollins reported that Right Choice moved to Better Built’s location and that there are no renewals from Mannatech, The Burb, or the Norris Family off of Sandy Lake.  Craig Prtizlaff asked about the Boy Scouts renewal. There is no renewal yet. Item 7: Discussion of Green Team Program  Cristal Rollins displayed the Green Team page located in the Chamber Directory.  Shannon Olmstead reported that there are 3 persons from Green Team working at Earthfest this year and there will be pamphlets about Green Team at the booth to give out. Item 8: Youth Report  There were no Youth present. Item 9: Community Programs Report 1) Recycling Carts – “Make Your Cart Count” goals – 65% Participation Rate (PR) & 20% Diversion Rate (DR). JAN. 10 FEB. 10 2010 YTD 21.08% DR 20.77% DR 20.95% DR 74% PR 64% PR 69% PR 2) Coppell Community Garden Education – Had to postpone the Spring Vegetable Gardening class stth on Sunday, March 21 because of the weather; new date is Sunday, April 11. Will share a thth promotional booth with CFM at Irving Earth Day (April 10), Live Green Expo in Plano (April 17) th and Earthfest (April 24). th 3) Coppell Farmers Market – CFM Winter Market – this Saturday, March 27. CFM opens for th 2010 season on Saturday, April 10. 4) Coppell Community Garden – finished remake of Ground Delivery Garden beds in late February. 57 beds were rebuilt by 60 volunteers (650 volunteer hours contributed) over the course of late January to late February. 5) TXDOT Landscape Project – Freeport/635 project is close to completion. th nd 6) Upcoming Events – Town Center Movie Series - March 26(The Neverending Story), April 2 th (Jurassic Park), April 9 (The Iron Giant) – all movies begin at dark. Egg Hunt – Saturday, April rd 3, 11:00 a.m. at Wagon Wheel Park (arrive early to park nearby!).
