BA 2010-11-11 CEDCMEMORANDUM
Date: November 2, 2010
TO: Jennifer Miller, Director of Finance
FROM: Clay Phillips, City Manager
SUBJECT: Carrollton -Farmers Branch ISD
At the June 10, 2010 Coppell Education Development Corporation meeting, the Carrollton -Farmers
Branch ISD submitted a grant request in the amount of $219,600. At that time, this dollar amount
was in excess of the .amount available because the final report for Carrollton -Farmers Branch ISD
Grant No. 2009-T03 had not been submitted. Staff informed the board that additional monies may
be available once the outstanding grant was reconciled. Based on this, staff revised the grant to
reflect the dollar amount available less interest. The board approved Grant 2010-TO1 for technology
in the amount of $180,882 and authorized the City Manager to grant any remaining funds from
previous grants up to the total amount of $219,600 as originally requested. Council approved this
action at the July 13, 2010 City Council meeting (see attached).
The budget allocation as of 08/31/10 plus carryovers indicates Carrollton -Farmers Branch has
$54,444.27 available for distribution. Carrollton -Farmers Branch is requesting the additional
funding in the amount of $38,718 as authorized by the board. This memo will serve as approval to
release the allocated carryover funds to be applied to Grant 2010-TO1 in the amount of $38,718.
Carrollton -Farmers Branch has submitted a grant for the November CEDC agenda in the amount of
$15,726 which, if approved, should distribute any remaining funds.
