Minutes of Meeting
November 18, 2010
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on November 18, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at
the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were
present: Craig Pritzlaff, Samuel Duff, Shannon Olmstead, Carol Gayler, David Caviness and Brandi Todd.
Student advisors: Geetika Rao and Elizabeth Meyer were present. City Liaison: Cristal Rollins, Community
Programs Coordinator, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Administrative Technician, were present.
Item 1: Call to Order

Craig Pritzlaff called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of October 21, 2010, Minutes
?
Motion was made and carried to approve the October 21, 2010, minutes.
Item 3: Citizens’ Forum.
?
No citizens were present.
Item 4: Discussion of Holiday Parade
?
The board will not participate in the parade. Cristal Rollins will drive the KCB truck
ahead of the city council float and lead the parade.
Item 5: Discussion of Green Team Program
?
Cristal Rollins reported there are no new members.
?
Brandi Todd reported talking to several businesses that are interested in the program
and asked to be contacted after the holidays. Other board members will also contact
two businesses each.
Item 6: Discussion of Adopt-a-Location Program
?
Cristal Rollins reported there are no new volunteers and will send out letters to
delinquent groups.
Item 7: Discussion of Subcommittee Recommendations
?
The board recommended removing the words “yard waste” from the 2014 waste
haulers contract, and Sam Duff will write up the draft.
Item 8: Youth Report and Feedback and Discussion of Youth Mentoring for 2011
?
Geetika Rao reported the Sierra Club at school is trying to get a restaurant chef to
come after Thanksgiving to do a cooking demonstration. Geetika also reported that
the energy team is trying to get solar panels and motion detector lights installed.
?
Elizabeth Meyer and Geetika Rao reported their observations on being youth advisors
on the board. They both like doing trash pick ups, but feel that the meetings are too
short for social interaction with the members and that they do not get to work on
projects with the board.
?
Brandi Todd was elected as youth mentor and will help them get involved with
projects and the holiday parade, leading the meeting once during the year, and
restructuring the format for the monthly youth report.
Item 9: Community Programs Report
1) Recycling Carts –
“Make Your Cart Count” goals – 65% Participation Rate (PR) and
20% Diversion Rate (DR).

2) E-Cycling –
100 people dropped off electronics. Waiting on weight from GEEP.
3) Coppell Farmers Market
– Season closes on Saturday. Winter Market dates:

December 11, 2 and 4 Saturdays in January, February and March.
4) CCG Education –
wrapped up 2010 Education Series on Saturday with Rain Barrel
class.
5) Upcoming Events
– Holiday Parade and Celebration – Saturday, December 4 –
parade: 6:30, celebration: 7-ish at Town Center Plaza. Earthfest 2011 – Saturday, April
30, 2011.
6) Boards & Commissions Swearing In
– Tuesday, December 14 Council meeting
(7:30 pm).
