COPPELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
September 1, 2010
MINUTES
The Coppell Economic Development Committee met at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at
Coppell Town Center, 255 Parkway Blvd., Coppell, Texas 75019. The following were present: Bill
Rohloff, Gary Roden, Don Carroll, Matt Hall, Adam Darowski, Christi Green, Ken Luttmer, Bradley
Snyder, Amanda O’Neal, Mary Ciminelli and Mindi Hurley.
1Call to Order

With a quorum present, Bill Rohloff called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
2.Approval of Minutes: August 4, 2010
It was moved by Gary Roden and seconded by Mary Ciminelli that the minutes of the August 4,
2010 meeting be approved. The motion passed unanimously.
3. Incentive Discussion
Mindi told the Committee that Council wants to postpone making any revisions to existing
incentive policies and drafting new policies until after the Comprehensive Land Use Plan is
adopted.
Mindi advised that an open house community meeting will be held on September 23 at
Town Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. for citizen comments regarding the Comprehensive
Land Use Plan. Mindi encouraged the committee to attend.
4.Business Retention
Mindi presented information on the next business appreciation breakfast that will be hosted
by the City of Coppell, Coppell Chamber of Commerce and Frost Bank.
The breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, Ocotber 21, 2010.
The location will be at the Coppell Senior and Community Center.
Andy Rittler will present information on the LBJ Expressway project.
5. Retail Discussion
Mindi informed the Committee that the City will be entering into a 1 year contract with
SKEDS, an online shop local program. The program is offered at no cost to the local
businesses that participate.
6.Collateral Materials Discussion
Mindi brought examples of collateral materials from other communities. She asked the
Committee to take examples home with them and evaluate them before the next meeting.
7. GeoPortal Discussion
Mindi presented information on the GeoCity Portal. This program offers information
about your community and tracks the spending habits and trends of residents.
The Committee decided to wait on any decisions about new programs until the
Comprehensive Land Use Plan is adopted.
The Committee will revisit the proposal after the adoption of the Comprehensive Land Use
Plan.
8. Chamber of Commerce Update
Christi Greene reviewed the following dates and events:
On September 25 the chamber will be hosting A Taste of Coppell at the Senior

and Community Center from 6 – 8 p.m.
The annual Coppell Chamber Golf Classic will be held on October 11 at the

Cowboys Golf Club.

BEST Practices meets the 2 Wednesday of the month at 8:00 a.m. and offers a

variety of free training seminars for people that attend.
School District Update
9.
Early voting and temporary locations will be available for the increase Tax Election for
Coppell ISD through Sept. 7. Election Day is September 11.
General Discussion and Update on Commercial and Industrial Projects

The Kolberg project plan has been modified and is awaiting financing.

Mindi reminded the Committee that Board applications are due September 24.
Mindi reviewed projects under construction and businesses that are now open or opening
soon.
Mindi reviewed developments being brought forward to the Development Review
Committee.
With no further business to discuss, it was moved by Matt Hall and seconded by Gary Roden that the
meeting adjourn. By unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
