Minutes of Meeting
January 20, 2011
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on January 20, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:
Samuel Duff, Shannon Wentz, David Caviness, Brandi Todd, Eric Dillie, Terra Taylor, and Tabitha Wilson.
Student advisor, Goutham Kandru, was present. City Liaison: Cristal Rollins, Community Programs
Coordinator, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Administrative Technician, were present.
Item 1: Call to Order

Cristal Rollins called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

New members, Eric Dillie, Terra Taylor, Shannon Wentz, Tabitha Wilson, and new
youth advisor, Goutham Kandru, were introduced.
Item 2: Discussion and Consider Approval of 2011 Chair and Vice Chair
?
Brandi Todd was nominated and approved as Chair.
?
David Caviness was nominated and approved as Vice Chair.
?
Brandi Todd chaired the meeting forward.
Item 3: Consider Approval of Minutes for November 18, 2010
?
Motion was made and carried to approve the November 18, 2010, minutes.
Item 4: Citizens’ Forum.
?
No citizens were present.
Item 5: Discussion of Adopt-a-Location and Selection of Section Assignments
?
Cristal Rollins explained the program to new members, and each member selected a
section of the city in which to oversee participating groups.
?
Terra Taylor was nominated and approved to be the coordinator for the KCB board
location pick ups in 2011.
?
The next KCB pick up date is Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 9 a.m.
Item 6: Discussion of Green Team Program
?
Cristal Rollins and Brandi Todd explained the program to new members.
?
Brandi Todd suggested that better structure and recognition awards would make
participation in the program more appealing to businesses.
Item 7: Discussion and Consider Approval of March Meeting Date
?
The board agreed there will be a quorum for a meeting and approved March 17,
2011.
Item 8: Discussion of Youth Report and Potential Youth Activities for 2011
?
Brandi Todd, youth mentor, reviewed the activities the youth advisors will become
involved in: city parades, sub-committees, leading a KCB meeting, restructuring the
format for the monthly youth report, and suggesting projects for themselves and/or
the board.
Item 9: Community Programs Report
1) Recycling Carts – “Make Your Cart Count” goals – 65% Participation Rate (PR)
and 20% Diversion Rate (DR).

2) E-Cycling – Approximately 300 people dropped off electronics on Saturday,
January 8. Waiting on tonnage from GEEP.

3) Coppell Farmers Market – Winter Market dates: 2 and 4 Saturdays in January,
February and March.
4) Coppell Community Garden (CCG) – Adopt-a-Plot signup is Saturday,
February 5.
5) CCG Education – In 2010, 987 people attended classes or were reached at
events, such as “Ask a Gardener” or booths. Upcoming classes: “Care and Pruning
of Roses” – Sunday, January 30, at 1 p.m. “Starting from Seeds” – Saturday,
February 5, at 1 p.m.
6) Upcoming Events – EGGstravaganza (Egg Hunt) – Saturday, April 23, at 11
a.m., at Wagon Wheel Park (arrive early!!!!); Earthfest – Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. to
2 p.m., at Town Center Plaza; Bounce!, May 14, 10:00 to 2:00, at Wagon Wheel Park.
