AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL
ORDINANCE NO
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, BY
AMENDING ARTICLE 16 -4, FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE,
BY AMENDING DIVISION 3, SECTION 16 -4 -10, BASIS FOR
ESTABLISHING FLOODPLAIN AND SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARDS, TO
PROVIDE FOR THE FLOODPLAIN INSURANCE STUDY FOR DENTON
COUNTY, TEXAS AND INCORPORATED AREAS, DATED APRIL 18,2011;
AND, BY REPEALING DIVISION 6, EFFECTIVE DATE, AND REPLACING
WITH A NEW DIVISION 6, PROVIDING FOR AMENDMENTS;
PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Coppell City Code be, and the same is hereby, amended by
amending Article 16 -4 by amending DIVISION 3, Section 16 -4 -10 to provide for The Floodplain
Insurance Study for Denton County, Texas and Incorporated Areas, dated April 18, 2011, and by
repealing DIVISION 6 and replacing with a new DIVISION 6, which shall read as follows:
"ARTICLE 16-4 FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE
DIVISION 3. GENERAL PROVISIONS
Sec. 16 -4 -10 Basis for establishing floodplain and special flood hazards.
The floodplain areas and areas of special flood hazard are identified in the
scientific and engineering reports entitled, "The Flood Insurance Study for Dallas
County, Texas and Incorporated Areas," dated August 23, 2001 and "The
Floodplain Insurance Study for Denton County, Texas and Incorporated Areas"
dated April 18, 2011 which, with their accompanying FIRM's and floodways, and
any revisions thereto, are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be a part of

this ordinance. Additional master planning maps adopted by amendment to this
ordinance and on file in the Floodplain Administrator's Office shall also be
considered to be a part of this ordinance.
DIVISION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE
This article, as amended, shall take effect April 18, 2011, after its passage and the
publication."
SECTION 2. All ordinances of the City of Coppell in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance shall be, and the same are hereby, repealed; provided, however, that all other
provisions of said ordinances not in conflict herewith shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or
section of this ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be adjudged or held
to be void or unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of
said ordinance or the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, which shall remain in full force
and effect.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage
and publication of the caption as required by law. �(
