BM 1995-01-23 PZ Special Joint HearingMinutes of Special Joint Hearing January 23, 1995 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION (IN CONJUNCTION WITH PARK BOARD) The Planning and Zoning Commission in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Board, met in joint session at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, January 23, 1995, in the Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas 75019. The following members were present: Vice Chairman George Redford Commissioner Texx Stewart Commissioner Larry Wheeler Commissioner Carl Thompson Also present were Planning Director Gary Sieb and Park Planner Rick Wieland. REGULAR SESSION 1. Call to Order Vice Chairman George Redford called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. 2. Public Meeting To Consider Initial Findings of Hike and Bike Trail Consultant The Chairman of the Park Board and Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission turned the meeting over to Messrs. Karl Beberstein and Michael Carr of the consulting firm Newman, Jackson, and Beberstein, Inc. The consultants gave a detailed presentation of their initial concepts for the hike and bike trail plan and asked for Commission, Board, and citizen reaction. Having been advised earlier by the Park Board Chair that this plan would not recommend placing trails in land that had already been platted to the centerline of creeks, the discussion moved on to details of the plan including the separation of bike and vehicular traffic, how the trails could be aesthetically designed, construction concepts such as width of trails, surface materials, combined trails, and a host of other findings. At the conclusion of the formal presentation, the Park Board and Planning Commission offered several comments regarding the plan. The audience was then invited to offer any comments. Those who spoke included: Melvin Gross, 152 Cottonwood, Coppell, Tx. Bruce Birdsong, 844 Deforest, Coppell, Tx. (currently building at this address) Byron Clayton, 639 Oakbend, Coppell, Tx. Carl Hodges, 538 Raintree Circle, Coppell, Tx. 3. Conclusion After thanking the citizens for their input, a motion was made by Commissioner Carl Thompson, seconded by Larry Wheeler, to adjourn. The motion passed and the meeting concluded at 9:15 p.m.
