Minutes of March 31, 1983
Commission of the City of Coppell met in special
31, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School
The f6llowing members were present:
R. W. Smedul, Chairman
Geren Burton, Co -Chairman
Peyton Weaver, Commissioner
Frank Pope, Commissioner
Gary Adams, Commissioner (Late Arrival)
Also present was Secretary Debbie Shanks.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Co -Chairman
Burton gave the invocation. Following the invocation, Chairman Smedul asked
if all Commissioners had read the minutes of the previous meeting. All indicated
they had. Commissioner Weaver moved that the minutes be approved as submitted;
Commissioner Pope seconded and motion carried 4-0.
ITEM N0. 4: Public hearing to consider a zoning change request of Bobby H.
Anglin for a zoning change from "SF -12", Single Family Dwelling
to a zoning classification of "C", Commercial and being all
that certain lot, tract or parcel of land situated in Dallas
County, Texas, being part of the B. B. & C. RR Survey, Abstract
No. 199 and being a part of the Patience Piles Survey, Abstract
No. 1137, and being more particularly described as 916 East
Sandy Lake Road containing 4.356 acres of land and 924 Sandy
Lake Road being 15,613.249 square feet.
Bobby Anglin made the presentation to the Commission. He stated that he
planned to place a portable office building on the property and lease the
building and the land to Comstock Sprinkler Systems, as their present
location is not satisfactory. Chairman Smedul declared the public hearing
open to the public and asked for those persons present who wished to speak
for the proposed change. Those persons speaking were Paul Ford. He then
asked for persons who wished to speak against the proposed change. There
were none. Chairman Smedul then closed the public hearing. Following discussion
by the Commission, Co -Chairman Burton made a motion to table the zoning
change to the next regular meeting so that a change in the zoning request
could be made; Commissioner Adams seconded and motion carried 5-0.
ITEM N0. 5: Public hearing to consider a zoning change request of Norman
Phillips for a zoning change from "SF -12", Single Family
Dwelling to a zoning classification of "I-1", Light Industrial,
being a tract of land situated in the David Myers Survey,
Abstract No. 886.
Norman Phillips made the presentation to the Commission. He stated that
he planned to build a mini warehouse on the property for storage purposes.
Chairman Smedul then declared the public hearing open and asked for those
persons present who wished to speak for the proposed change. Those persons
speaking were Al Pittman, Richard Phillips, and James Harrington. He then
asked for those persons who wished to speak against the proposed change. There
were none. Chairman Smedul then declared the public hearing closed. Follow-
ing discussion by the Commission, Commissioner Pope moved that the zoning
change request be tabled until the next meeting so a change in the request
could be made; Commissioner Weaver seconded the motion which carried 5-0.
ITEM N0. 6: Consider changing date of April meeting
Co -Chairman Burton moved that the meeting be changed to April 28, 1983; Com-
missioner Adams seconded and motion carried 5-0.
The meeting was then adjourned.
