The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell met in special
called session on August 2, 1982, at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School
Administration Bldg.
The following members were present:
R. W. Smedul, Chairman
Geren Burton, Co -Chairman (late arrival)
Frank Pope, Commissioner
Gary Adams, Commissioner
Peyton Weaver, Commissioner
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Commissioner
Adams gave the invocation. Following the invocation, the meeting immediately
went into Executive Session allowed under Article 6252-172 Section 2 (g),
discussion concerning personnel. Co -Chairman Burton arrived during this
Executive Session.
Following the Executive Session, the meeting was declared open to the public.
Co -Chairman Burton moved that the firm of Urban Systems Consultants, Inc. be
recommended as first choice to update the current master plan for the City of
Coppell and that the firm of J. T. Dunkin & Associates be recommended as second
choice based on the following strong points and concerns:
A memo outlining the strong points and the major points of concern will be
presented to the Council with the recommendations.
The meeting was then adjourned.

The three firms of J. T. Dunkin & Associates, EDI/Cape Hopkins, Clement,
Inc., and Urban Systems Consultants, Inc. have been interviewed by the
full commission. All interviews were based on the City obtaining a
