The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell met in regular
session on September 172 1981, at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School
Cafeteria.
The following members were present: R. W. Smedul, Commissioner
Frank Pope, Commi-ssioner
Jim Kershaw, Commissioner
Gary Adams, Commissioner
Co -Chairman hairman Geren Burton was not present. Also present were City Administrator
Jim Elium and City Secretary Dorothy Timmons.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Commissioner
Adams gave the invocation. Following the invocation, Commissioner Smedul,
acting as chairman, questioned if all those present had read the minutes of
the two previous meetings. All indicated they had. Commissioner Adams then
moved that the minutes be approved as submitted; Commissioner Pope seconded
and motion carried 4-0.
ITEM N0. 4: Consider appointment of chairman and co-chairman
Commissioner Pope moved that Commissioner Smedul be appointed as chairman
for the Planning and Zoning Commission; Commissioner Kershaw seconded and
motion carried 3-0-1 with Commissioner Smedul abstaining. Commissioner
Kershaw then moved that Geren Burton be reappointed as Co-Chairman;Commissioner
Adams seconded and motion carried 4-0. T
ITEM N0. 5: Consider approval of final plat on engineering drawings and Allen
Road of Woodridge Subdivision.
Mr. Bert Elsy of Lichliter Corp. presented the engineering drawings for the
construction of Allen Road from Sandy Lake to the southern boundary of the
'^ Woodridge development. He stated that this item is being requested for ap-
proval in order to construct the extension of Allen Road and have access to
the remainder of this development. City Administrator Jim Elium stated that
the plans and specifications are in accordance with City requirements.
Following discussion, Commissioner Pope moved that these plansberecommended
for approval; Commissioner Adams seconded and motion carried 4-0.
ITEM N0. 6: Public hearing to consider a zoning change request on Whispering
Hills from "SF -12", Single Family to a zoning classification of onH",Townhouse
Dwelling, and being a tract of land situated in tWandnbeing more Abstract No. 18, City of Coppell, Dallas County, Texas
part-
icularly described as a tract of land located south of Sandy Lake Road, west
of the General Telephone Building, and east of Coppell Road.
Mr. Bill Story, developer and Mr. Steve Anderson, owner, made the presentation
to the Commission. Mr. Story stated that there are 91 lots in the proposed
change and that it is being requested because it is not economically
ible
to develop the subdivision as 12,000 square foot lots. Chairman Smedul eclared
