Minutes of March 19, 1981
The Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular session on March 1931 1981,
at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School Cafeteria.
The following members were present:
Foy Layton, Chairman
Ray Smedul, Cor=issioner
Frank Pope, Co=issioner (Late Arrival)
Jim Kershaw, Commissioner
Co -Chairman Burton was not present. Also present were City Administrator
Jim Elium and City Secretary Dorothy Tir-..mons.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Chairman
Layton gave the invocation. Following the invocation, the following cor-

Pope had given the invocation. Mr. Gary Krauss made thep
the 121 Business Park, and Mr. David Phillips made the presentation on the
preliminary and final plats for the Phillips Addition. Cor�nissioner Smedul
then moved that the minutes be approved as corrected; Commissioner Kershaw
seconded and motion carried 3-0.

for a change from Two -Family Dwelling,
Neighborhood Service, Multi -Family Dwelling,
Commercial and Retail to a
zoning classification of Light Industrial.on a total of approximately
137.76 acres of land which is located north of Thweatt Road, east of
Coppell Road, west of Cottonwood Branch, and south of Denton Creek. Mr.
Wise made the presentation to the Commission. Chairman

who wished to speak for the proposed change. having questions were Mr. Melvin Gross and Mr. Bill Story. Chairman

change. Those persons speaking and asking questions were Mr. Walter Goram
and Mr. Melvin Gross. Chairman Layton then declared the public hearing
closed. Discussion was held by the Commission on the proposed change.
Following discussion, Commissioner Smedul moved that the change be rec-
ommended for approval; Commissioner Pope seconded and motion carried 3-0-1
with Commissioner Kershaw abstaining.
The next item to be considered was approval of a preliminary plat on the
Sandy Oaks Addition which is located east of Heartz Road and South of
Sandy Lake Road. Following discussion on this item,
Commissioner Pope
moved that the preliminary plat be approved; --Commissioner Smedul seconded
and motion carried 4-0.
The meeting was then adjourned.
