Minutes of November 14, 1979
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell met in regular session
on November 14, 1979 at 6:00 p.m. in the Coppell High School Cafeteria.
The following members were present:
Foy Layton, Chairman
Geren Burton, Co -Chairman
Thomas Rainey, Commissioner
Larry Wells, Commissioner
Ray Smedul, Commissioner
Also present was City Administrator James Elium.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Commissioner
Smedul gave the invocation.
Commissioner Smedul moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as
submitted; Commissioner Wells seconded and motion carried 5-0.
The first item to be considered was approval of the replat of Lots 13 and 14, lock A'
of Cottonwood Estates. The replat would enable both lots to face CottonwoodD
ve
rather than Sandy Lake Road. Following discussion, Commissioner Rainey moved that,
the replat be approved; Commissioner Wells seconded and motion carried 5-0.
The next item to be considered was approval of the final plat of Braewood Develop-
ment Corporation. Mr. Steve Crim was present to discuss this item with the
Commission. He introduced Mr. Bob Taylor who stated that the development will
produce approximately 70-80 homes per year. He anticipates that it will take
seven months to develop the streets and utilities with construction beginning on
the homes.be next fall.(1980). These first homes will be ready for occupancy
in 1981 with the total project to be completed in 1983-84. Following discussion
on this item, Co -Chairman Burton moved that the final plat be denied; Commissioner
Rainey seconded and motion failed 2-3 with Commissioners Wells and Smedul and
Chairman Layton voting against the motion. After further discussion, Commissioner
Wells moved that the plat be approved; Commissioner Smedul seconded and motion
carried 3-2 with -Co -Chairman Burton and Commissioner Rainey against the motion.
The meeting was then adjourned.
