BM 1979-08-23 PZMinutes of August 23, 1979
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell met in special called
session on August 23, 1979 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School Cafeteria.
The following members were present:
Foy Layton, Chairman
Thomas Rainey, Commissioner
Ray Smedul, Commissioner
Commissioners Geren Burton and Larry Wells were not present. Also present was
City Administrator James Elium.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Chairman Layton
gave the invocation.
Following the invocation, Chairman Layton questioned if each Commissioner present
had read the minutes. All indicated that they had. Commissioner Rainey then moved
that the minutes be approved as submitted; Commissioner Smedul seconded and motion
carried 3-0.
The first item to be considered by the Commission was the election of a co-chairman.
Commissioner Rainey moved that Geren Burton be re-elected as co-chairman; Commissioner
Smedul seconded the motion which carried 3-0.
Next, consideration of the replat of Lot 2, Harrison Estates was discussed by the
Commission. Commissioner Rainey moved that the replat be recommended for approval;
Commissioner Smedul seconded and motion carried 3-0.
Consideration of approval of the final plat of The Meadows for Mr. Bert Meadows was
then discussed by the Council. Mr. Meadows made the presentation to the Council on
this subdivision. Following discussion, Commissioner Rainey moved that the final
plat be recommended for approval with the drainage and bermes being added to the plans
prior to presentation to the City Council. Commissioner Smedul seconded the motion
which carried 3-0.
Next, Mr. Bob Kyle presented plans for the new proposed Southwestern Drive. This
road will be located just south of the railroad and will intersect Esters Road and
Coppell Road. Following discussion, Commissioner Smedul moved that the plans be
recommended for approva; Commissioner Rainey seconded and motion carried 3-0.
The meeting was then adjourned.
