BM 1978-06-12 PZ SPECIAL CALLED SESSION33 Minutes of June 12, 1978 The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell met in special called session on June 12, 1978 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall of the City of Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Thomas Rainey, Commissioner Foy Layton, Commissioner Larry Wells, Commissioner Geren Burton, Commissioner Also present were City Administrator James Elium and City Secretary Dorothy Timmons: Commissioner Paul Ford was not present. City Administrator James Elium, acting as chairman of the Commission, called the meeting to order and everyone was asked to stand while Commissioner Layton gave the invocation. Nominations were then declared open for the election of a chairman. Commis- sioner Wells moved that Foy Layton be elected Chairman; Commissioner Rainey seconded. Since there were no other nominations, Commissioner Wells moved that Foy Layton be elected by acclamation; Commissioner Rainey seconded and motion carried unanimously. _ Chairman Layton then stated that nominations were open for the election of a Co -Chairman. Commissioner Rainey moved that Geren Burton be nominated for Co -Chairman; Commissioner Wells seconded. Commissioner Rainey then moved that Geren °urton be nominated by acclamation. Commissioner Wells seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell consisted of the following persons at this point: Foy Layton, Chairman Geren Burton, Co -Chairman Thomas. Rainey, Commissioner Larry Wells, Commissioner Paul Ford, Commissioner (not present) The first item to be considered by the Commission was setting a regularly scheduled meeting date. Following discussion on this item, Co -Chairman Burton moved that the regular meeting dates for the Commission be set for the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Commissioner Wells seconded the motion which carried 4-0. The next item on the agenda was the presentation of copies of the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance of the City to the new Commission members. It was noted that these copies had been provided in the packet sent out the previous Friday. Discussion on both ordinances then followed. During the course of this discussion, it was the consensus of the Commission that any time a zoning application is received, Chairman Layton and Mayor John Burns will contact the president of the school board and City Administrator Elium will contact the superintendent of the school to get their input on the proposed zonina chance.
