BM 1972-08-03 PZ13 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION City of Coppell Coppell, T exa s August 3, 1972 A meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Coppell, Texas, was held with the following members in attendance: Bill Harrison C. 0. Perkins Charles Austin B. J. Melton A. T. Jenkins Zoning change application for King W. & Tom R. Hopkins: Request to change Lots 34 & 35 into commercial lots and do away with alleys in back of these lots. In favor of this change- no comments Against this zoning change - 1. Charles E. Ramey - Doesn't want more traffic for street, feels there is a station and store close enough for convience. 2. Charles Arnett - Only 2 streets there, can't handle much more traffic; there are other places zoned commercial. 3. Salinas Martinez - Needs more houses there, wants to prevent more traffic than would already be caused. 4. Richard Finley - Feels same as the rest. Board voted on King W. & Tom R. Hopkins proposal: In favor -0 Against -Unanimous Recommendation for the Council will be against this proposal. Zoning change application for Kenneth M. Good & Associates Inc. - Mike Crain- Good Financial Corp. Bart Bradford- Carter & Burgess Engineers Barry Teller- With Mike Crain Mike Crain opened and presented Bart Bradford for Engineering Analysis. He presented facts why this should be zoned for various reasons. There were no questions from the Board. For the zoning change: 1. G. O. Woodruff- agreed with entire plan. Z. Richard Fleming- completely for the proposal. 3. Mrs. Long- agreed with the plan. Opposition- None General Discussion followed. McBride Realty representative arrived - Goes along with this change completely. Questions were raised about schools and parks: Bill Harrison strongly objected zoning because of lack of parks and parking space. Discussion on the school areas and land°, price was brought up. The proposed school areas marked on map were opposed. The Board passed unanimously the zoning change to be recommended before the Council on the following conditions: 1. The City would have the option to negorate on purchase of land for public parks. 2. Schools would have option to choose land for schools. Mr. Crain agreed to meet with the school board and discuss these changes. Charles Austin let it be known he felt there were too many multi -family dwellings, and malzoned. No further business being presented at this time, the meeting was adjourned. Chairman Secretary
