Minutes of Meeting
April 21, 2011
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on April 21, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room
at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members
were present: Shannon Wentz, David Caviness, Brandi Todd, Eric Dillie, and Samuel Duff. Student
advisors, Goutham Kandru, and Geetika Rao were present. City Liaison: Cristal Rollins, Community
Programs Coordinator, and Kami Marcom, Parks and Recreation Administrative Technician, were
present.
Item 1: Call to Order
Brandi Todd, Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of Minutes for January 20, 2011
Motion was made and carried to approve the February 17, 2011, minutes.
Motion was made and carried to approve the March 17, 2011, minutes.
Item 3: Citizens’ Forum.
No citizens were present.
Item 4: Presentation from ECoppell Group Members
ECoppell Group Members were not present.
Item 5: Discussion and Approval of Date for Litter Index Survey
Board members, Eric Dillie and Geetika Rao volunteered to participate in the
Litter Index/Survey at 5:45 pm on May 19, 2011.
Item 6: Discussion and Approval of June and July Meeting Dates
Motion was made and carried to cancel June and July meetings.
Item 7: Discussion of Board’s Priorities for 2011 and Presentation of Survey Results
David Caviness reported on the priorities and the survey results.
The top four priorities according to the results:
- Diversion and participation rate for residential recycling
- Increase schools’ involvement in recycling
- Green Team
- Youth advisor activities involvement
Item 8: Discussion of Earthfest and Board’s Booth
Goutham Kandru reported on the games.
Cristal Rollins reported on the flyers and giveaways.
Brandi Todd, along with board members, created a list of items to bring to
Earthfest.
Cristal Rollins reported that the shift rotations would be from 9:00am –
12:00pm and 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Shannon Wentz and David Caviness
volunteered for the 9:00am – 12:00pm shift and Eric Dillie, Geetika Rao, and
Goutham Kandru volunteered to stay for both rotations.
Cristal Rollins reported on the shredding information taking place at Town
Center Elementary. Metrocrest will be available to accept clothing donations
and the High School Wrestling team will be there volunteering their assistance
as well.
Brandi Todd, Geetika Rao, and Goutham Kandru agreed to meet on April 28,
2011 to set up and test out the games.
Item 9: Update on Clean Coppell
Cristal Rollins reported that Clean Coppell began on April 16, 2011 and
continues until Earthfest on April 30, 2011. This year, Clean Coppell has
record numbers reaching 1,995 volunteers and 2,000 pounds of clean up.
Item 10: Community Programs Report
1) Recycling Carts – “Make Your Cart Count” goals – 65% Participation Rate (PR) & 20%

2) Coppell Farmers Market – Weekly season started April 9th.
3) CCG Education – 26 people attended the Spring Vegetable Gardening class on 3/26 and
15 people attended the Grub Composting class on 4/9. Upcoming classes: “Make & Take
Rain Barrels” – April 23rd – 10:00 a.m. (Fire Training Room) – must pre-register for this one,
“Drip Irrigation” – Saturday, April 23rd – 11:30 a.m. (Fire Training Room), “Composting
101” – Saturday, April 23rd – 2:00 p.m. (Library).
Education and Farmers Market committees partnered together for a booth at the Live Green
Plano Expo on 4/16.
4) Upcoming Events – EGGstravaganza (Egg Hunt) – Saturday, April 23rd - 11:00 a.m. at
Wagon Wheel Park (arrive early!!!!); Earthfest – Saturday, April 30th – 10:00 to 2:00 at Town
Center Plaza; Bounce! – Saturday, May 14th - 10:00 to 2:00 at Wagon Wheel Park.
