Minutes of Meeting
May 19, 2011
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on May19, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at
the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members
were present: Shannon Wentz, David Caviness, Eric Dillie, Tabitha Wilson and Samuel Duff. City
Liaison: Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator, and Kami Marcom, Parks and
Recreation Administrative Technician, were present.
Item 1: Call to Order
Cristal Rollins called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of Minutes for April 21, 2011
Motion was made and carried to approve the April 21, 2011 minutes.
Item 3: Citizens’ Forum
No citizens were present.
Item 4: Clean Coppell and Earthfest Wrap-up report
Cristal Rollins reported that Clean Coppell had 90,000 volunteer hours and
6,700 lbs of litter was collected.
Cristal Rollins reported the following collections at Earth Fest
- Brinks collected 5,000 lbs of paper.
- Metro Crest reached their capacity by 1:30pm with 1,000 lbs of donations.
- One roll off dumpster full of trash
- 12,506 lbs of electronics
Item 5: Discussion of Adopt-a-Location
Cristal Rollins reported that 55 spots have been adopted and 8 spots are still
available
Item 6: Discussion of Green Team
Cristal Rollins reported that the Green Team is up to 24 members and the
YMCA has also submitted interested in joining.
Tony Moline is the new president of the Coppell Chamber
Item 7: Discussion of formation of subcommittees
Cristal Rollins asked the board for thoughts on subcommittees
Item 8: Community Programs Report
1) Recycling Carts – “Make Your Cart Count” goals – 65% Participation
Rate (PR) & 20% Diversion Rate (DR)

2) Coppell Farmers Market – Special Days 2011: Customer
Appreciation Day: May 21st. Sizzlin’ at the Market: July 30th. Farm to
Table dinner tickets are on sale at the Market.
3) CCG Education – Had over 600 contacts in April from classes and
booths at various events. Will be having their “Ask a Gardener” booth on
Saturday at the CFM.
4) Upcoming Events – July 4th events: Sunday, July 3rd 7:00-10:00 p.m. –
Fireworks and activities at Andy Brown East. Monday, July 4th 10:00
a.m. – Parade (Samuel to Parkway to Town Center).
5) KCB was awarded 2nd Place in the 2011 Governor’s Community
Achievement Award!
