CM 1956-03-0533 THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, convened on this the 5th day of March, 1956, with the following members present, to-wit: R. M. Johnson, Mayor C. C. Mitchell, V. E. Grace, Geo. Corbin, Aldermen E. E. Parker, Grover Lanham, Roy Liberto, Town Secretary Absent: None, constituting a quorum, when among other proceedings had was the following: C.C.Mitchell made a motion that we accept the proposal for '~ ~ road signs. Virgil Grace seconded. All present voted Aye. ~--T. Mr. Mitchell introduced a proposed resolution and made a motion that it be adopted. The motion was seconded by l&r. Grace. The motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Messrs. Mitchell, Grace, Corbin, Parker and Lanham. NOES: None. The Mayor requested to be recorded as voting "Aye". The resolution as adopted is as follows: A RESOLUTION BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWNN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, CALLING AN ELECTION FOE THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR SAID TOWN. WHEREAS, the terms of office of the present Mayor, Aldermen and other officers of 'the Town of Coppell, Texas, are about to expire; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS: That an election be held on the 3rd day of April, 1956, said date being the first Tuesday in April, 1956, for the purpose of: EIecting a Mayor, five Aldermen, a Town Secretary and Town Marshal for the Town of Coppell, Texas, to serve until the next regular election, as provided by the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas. Said election shall be held at the School House in said Town of Coppell, Texas, and Tom Moore is hereby appointed Presiding Judge of said election, and die said Tom Moore shall select two Judges and two Clerks to assist in holding said election. The manner of holding said election shall be governed by the general laws of the State of Texas regulating general elections, except as otherwise provided by the statutes hereinabove referred to, and only' qualified voters who have resided in said Town for six (6) months next preceding the date of the election shall be allowed to vote in said election. A copy of this resolution, signed by the Mayor and attested by the Town Secretary of said Town, shall serve as a proper notice of said election. The Msyor is authorized and directed to cause this notice of the election to be posted at each of three (3) public places within said Town for at least thirty (30) full days prior to the date of said election. Ail members of the Council read the Texas Power & Light Company annual report. Motion was made by G. Corbin and seconded by Parker to adjourn. PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 5th day of March, 1956.
