Minutes of Meeting
June 14, 2012
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on June 14, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room
at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members
were present: Laura Burnett, Noel Schaefers, Richard Kelley, Shawn Thompson, Carmen Prince,
Vin Merrill, Annie Friedman, and City Liaison: Jen Ferguson.
Item 1: Call to Order
Shawn Thompson called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of Minutes for May 17, 2012
Motion was made and carried to approve the May 17, 2012 minutes.

Item 4: Discussion and timeline on July 3 Fireworks participation/activities/times
Board members decided to meet at 8:00 p.m. at the Andy Brown East
Pavilion to disperse throughout the crowd next to trash and recycling
receptacles to encourage people to recycle and hand out Keep Coppell
Beautiful Stickers. Student volunteer opportunities are available and listed
on X2Vol.com.
Item 5: Discussion regarding Coppell Green Team
Jen Ferguson met with Tony Moline. He would like to attend and speak at
the September meeting and start attending KCB events. Jen reported that he
wants to have a ribbon cutting for the new Green Team Program.
Subcommittee would like to meet with Tony before the September meeting.
Item 6: Discussion regarding Adopt-a-Location Program
Adopt-a-Location Charts are updated. Members are to still encouraged to
reach out to groups that still have not done any clean ups.
Members are to still brainstorm ways to improve the program. Members are
going to survey their groups to see if they still like the program as is or can
we refocus the groups to only certain areas that need to be cleaned up.
Jen Ferguson asked the board if they would like signs along creeks that state
what main water source they feed into, for example, the Trinity River. The
thought was that the signs might make people more aware of littering in and
around the water ways. The board agreed with the idea.
Item 7: Community Programs Report
1. Awards
Keep Texas Beautiful Governors Community Achievement Award-
Presented at KTB Conference, June 27, 2012. Jen and Amanda attending
Conference.
2. Residential Recycling Carts Average to date in 2012 -
AprilPercent of
Homes that set out carts- 61%. Percent of Waste Diverted by recycling-22%.

3. Coppell Farmers Market-
Farm to Table Dinner- June 9 report. Market to
Kitchen upcoming dates.
4. Coppell Community Garden (CCG)-
Share the harvest donated 932 lbs. in
May and 2641 lbs. to date. CCG Scholarship to Shontee Pant. CCG Photo
Contest to Jillian Fisher.

applications for Texas Smart Scape landscape competition.

Discussion of adding more waste bins in public areas around cities such as in strip malls
and outside restaurants.
