The Town Council of the Town of Coppe11, Texas, convened on this
the 15th day of May, 1957, with the following members present, to-wit:

E. E. Parker,
Grover Lanham,
Roy Liberto, Town Secretary
constituting a quorum, when among other proceedings had was the following:
Mr. Lanham introduced a proposed ordinance and made a motion that
the rules requiring ordinances to be read at more than one separate
meeting be suspended for the reason stated in the emergency clause.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Parker.
The motion prevailed by the following vote:
AYES: Messrs. Mitchell, Grace, Parker and Lanham.
NOES: None.
Mr. Lanham made a motion that the ordinance be passed finally.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Parker.
The motion carrying with it the final passage of the ordinance
prevailed by the following vote:
AYES: Messrs. Mitchell, Grace, Parker and Lanham.
N(ES: None.
The Mayor requested to be recorded as voting "Aye".
The ordinance as finally passed is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS
TO AND ADJOINING IHE TOWN CF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO
THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Mrs. P. S. Corbin and others have presented a petition to
the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, praying that certain lands,
more particularly described in said petition, be annexed to the Town of
Coppell, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that all of the facts contained
in said petition are true and do hereby officially find
1. That Mrs. P. S. Corbin and others are the
Owners of the land described in said petition.
2. That the land described in said petition
is located entirely within Dallas County, Texas,
and is contiguous and adjacent to the Town of
Coppell, Texas, and on which less than three
(3) qualified voters reside.
3. That none cf the territory is more than
one-half mile in width from the present Town
Limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. "~
4. That said petition is acknowledged by
every person owning an interest in said land.
and;
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous
and beneficial to the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants,
as well as the hereinafter described territory, to annex such terri-
tory to the Town of Coppell, Texas;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF' THE TOWN OF
COPPELL, TEXAS:
1. That the territory described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the corporate limits
of the Town of Coppell, Texas, said point
being at the intersection of the North line
of the E. Cook Survey, Abstract No. 300,
with the Northeast bank of Denton Creek;
THENCE Southeasterly with the meanderings of
the Northeast bank of Denton Creek to its
intersection with the North line of the D.
Meyers Survey, Abstract No. 886;
THENCE East with the North ~hne of said D.
Meyers Survey to its Northeast corner;
THENCE South with the East line of said D.
Meyers Survey to the center of the channel
of Denton Creek;
THENCE Northwesterly with the meandering of
the center of the channel of Denton Creek to
its intersection with the North line of said
D. Meyers Survey;
THENCE West with the North line of said D.
Meyers Survey to the new Northeast right -of
way line of Old U. S. Highway 77;
THENCE in a Southeasterly direction parallel
to and 50 feet from the center line of Old
U.S. Highway 77 to a point in the East line
of said D. Meyers Survey;
thence South with the East line of said D.
Meyers Survey, the S. A. & M. G. Survey,
Abstract No. 1442, continuing South to the
North right of way line of the St. Louis
and Southwestern Ry.;
THENCE West with the North right of way line
of the St. Louis and Southwestern Ry. to the
East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell,
Texas;
THENCE North with the East corporate limits of
the Town of Coppell, Texas, to the place of
Beginning;
SAVE AND EXCEPT: a right of way 130 feet wide
across the D. Meyers Survey, Abstract No. 886,
and the S. A. & M. G. Ry. Survey, Abstract No.
1442, conveyed by two separate deeds each dated
October 17, 1956.
be and the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas.
2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri-
tory shall be a part of said Town of Coppell, Texas, and the inhabitants
thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights, privileges and immunities
of all other citizens of the Town of Coppell, Texas, and shall be bound
by all of the ordinances and regulations enacted pursuant to and in con-
formity with the general laws of the State of Texas.
The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, are
in immediate need of the relief afforded by the provisions of this
ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity demand-
ing that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed at more than
one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately
upon and after its passage, and it is so ordained.

THERCE East with the South right af way line
of the St. Louis and Southwestern Ry. 2640

THENCE South to the corporate limits of the
City of Dallas, Texas, as established on
first reading;
THENCE Northwesterly with the meanderings
of the corporate limits of the City of
Dallas, Texas, as established on first
reading, to the East corporate limits of
the Town of Coppell, Texas;
THENCE North with the East corporate limits
of the Town of Coppell, Texas, to the place
of Beginning.

2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri-
