CM 1957-05-22THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The Town Council of the ToWn of Coppell, Texas, convened on this the 22n d day of May, 1957, with the following members present, to-wit: R. M. Johnson, Mayor C. C. Mitchell, Virgil Grace, Aldermen E. E. Parker, Grover Lanham, Roy Liberto, Town Secretary constituting a quorum, when among other proceedings had was the follow- ing: Mr. Lanham introduced a proposed ordinance and made a motion that the rules requiring ordinances to be read at more than one separate meeting be suspended for the reason stated in the emergency clause. The motion was seconded by Mr. Parker. The motion prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Messrs. Mitchell, Grace, Parer and Lanham. NOES: None. Mr. Lanham made a motion that the ordinance be passed finally. The motion was seconded by Mr. Parker. The motion carrying with it the fim~l passage of the ordinance prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Messrs. Mitchell, Grace, Parker and Lanham. NOES: None. The Mayor requested to be recorded as voting "Aye". The ordinance as finally passed is as follows: AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGOUS TO AND ADJOINING THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEHEAS, C. R. Lesley has presented a petition to the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, praying that certain lands, more particularly described in said petition, be annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas; and WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have investigated into and have determined that all of the facts contained in said petition are true and do hereby officially find: 1. That C, R. Lesley is the owner of the land described in said petition. 2. That the land described in said petition is located entirely within Dallas County, Texas, ard is contiguous and adjacent to the Town of Coppell, Texas, and on gaich less than three (3) qualified voters reside. 3. That none of the territory is more than one-half mile in width from the present Town Limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. ~. That said petition is acknowledged by every person owning an interest in said land. and; WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous and beneficial to the Town cf Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, as well as the hereinafter described territory, to annex such territory to the Town of Coppell, Texas; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS: 1. That the territory described as follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the South right of way line of the St. Louis and South- western Ry. with the East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas, as extended; THENCE East with the South right of way lir~ of the St. Louis and Southwestern Ry. to the East line of the S. Thompson Survey, Abs~tract No. 1493; ~ THENCE South to the corporate limits of the City of Dallas, Texas, as established on first reading; THENCE Northwesterly with the meanderings of 'the corporate limits of the City of Dallas, Texas, as established on first reading, to the East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas; THENCE North with the East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas, to the place of Beginning. be ard the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas. 2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri- tory shall be a part of said Town of Coppell, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights, privileges and immunities of all other citizens of the Town of Coppell, Texas, and shall be bound by all of the ordinances and regulations enacted pursuant to and in con- formity with the general laws of the State .of Texas. The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, are in immediate need o£ the relief afforded by the provisions of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity demanding that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed at more than one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately upon and after its passage, and it is so ordained. That the territory described as follows: TRACT NO. 1: Being part of the W. Perry Survey, Abstract No. 1152, and being a part of a 30 acre tract in the Northwest corner of said Survey, and BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of said 30 acre tract in the West Line of said Survey; THENCE East 480 varas to the Southeast corner of said 30 acre tract; THENCE North 60 rods to the Northeast corner of said 30 acre tract; THENCE West 285 feet to a point in the middle of Denton Creek; THENCE Southwesterly with the meanders of the middle of Denton.Creek to the West line of the Survey; THENCE South with the West Survey line to the place of Beginning. TRACT NO. 2: Being part of the D. Meyers Survey, Abstract No. 886, and BEGINNING in the center of the channel of Denton Creek where it is crossed by the West line of the W. Perry Survey, being the Northwest corner of the Tract No. 1; THENCE South with the Survey 455 feet; THENCE West 32 feet; THENCE North 51 deg. 30 min. West 50 feet from and parallel to the center line of a concrete highway 546 feet; THENCE North 38 deg. 30 min. East 146 feet to the East line of the channel of Denton Creek; THENCE down Denton Creek to the place of Beginning. TRACT NO. 3: Being part of the D. Meyers Survey, Abstract No. 886, and BEGINNING at a point, being the Southernmost corner of said 762 acre tract and the most Western corrsr of the Mrs. Neva Gresham tract in said Survey and being 50 feet perpendicularly from the center line of Old U. S. Highway 77; THENCE Northwesterly along the new North line of Old U. S. Highway 77 parallel to and 50 feet perpendicularly from the center line 1510 feet more or less, to a point for corner, a point in the North line of the D. Meyers Survey, a distance of 98O feet to a point in the center channel of Denton Creek; THENCE Southwesterly with the meanders of the center line of said channel 880 feet, more or less, being the Northwest corner of the Neva Gresham 2.96 acre tract in said Survey; THENCE Southwesterly 146 feet to the place of Beginning; SAVE AND EACEPT: a right of way conveyed to Dallas Power & Light Company by deed dated November 22, 1956. be and the aame is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas. 2.
