CM 1958-08-0484 THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The Town council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, convened on this the 4th day of August, 1958, with the following members present, to- wit.. R. M. Johnson, Mayor Frank Harwell, Ed Segers C. C. Mitchell, Aldermen Johnnie Burns, W. F. Mosley, Town Secretary constituting a quorum, when among other proceedings had was the following: Mr. Harwell introduced a proposed ordinance and made a motion that the rules requiring ordinances to be read at more than one separate meeting be suspended for the reasons stated in the emergency clause. The motion was seconded by Mr. Burns. The motion prevailed by the following votes AYES: Messrs. Harwell, Segers, Mitchell and Burns. NOES: None. Mr. Harwell made a motion that the ordinance be passed finally. The motion was seconded by Mr. Burns. The motion carrying with it the final passage of the ordinance prevailed by the following Vote: AYES: Messrs. Harwell, Segers, Mitchell and Burns. NOES: None. The Mayor requested to be recorded as voting "AYE". The ordinance as finally passed is as follows: No-018 AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO AND ADJOINING THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, The Mayor has certified to the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, the affidavit of M. L. Mills, J. D. Hudson and Mrs. Kathren Hudson, pertaining to the Vote of the inhabitants of the herein- after described territory with reference to the annexation of such terri- tory to the Town of Coppell, Texas, and WHEREAS, the Town Council have investigated into said election and have determined that such election was in all things regular and in con- formity with law, and that a majority of the inhabitants who are qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature voted in favor of annexation; and WHEREAS. the Town Council have investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous to the Town of Coppell. Texas. and its inhabitants, as well as the inhabitants of the hereinafter described terri- tory, to annex such territory to the Town of Coppell. Texas; and WHEREAS. the Town Council have determined that such territory is contiguous to and adjoins the Town of Goppell. Texas. and that no part of such territory is more than one-half mile in width from the existing corporate limits of such Town; THEREFORE. BE IT OrDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL. TEXAS: 1. That the territory described as follows: Being a part of the G. W. Jack Survey. Abstract No. 694. Dallas County, Texas. and being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the North bank of Cottonwood Creek with the West corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas THENCE South with the West corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. to an angle corner in the corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas; THENCE West with the North corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. to an angle corner in the corporate limits of the Town Of Coppell, Texas; THENCE North and Northwest with the corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. to the North bank of Cottonwood Creek; THENCE Northeast withthe North bank of Cottonwood Creek to the place of Beginning. be and the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell. Texas. 2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri- tory shall be a part of said Town of Coppell. Texas. and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights, privileges and immunities of all other citizens of the Town of Coppell, Texas, and shall be bound by all of the ordinances and regulations enacted pursuant to and in con- fortuity with the General laws of the State of Texas. The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas. and its inhabitants, are in immediate need of the relief afforded by the provisions of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity demanding that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed at more than one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage, and it is so ordained.
