Minutes of Meeting
October 18, 2012
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on October 18, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference
Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following
members were present: Laura Burnett, Noel Schaefers, Richard Kelley, Shawn Thompson, Carmen
Prince, Tabitha Wilson, Brandi Todd, Student Advisors: Annie Friedman, Pooja Marella, and City
Liaison: Jen Ferguson.
Item 1: Call to Order
Brandi Todd called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of Minutes for September 20, 2012
Motion was made and carried to approve the September 20, 2012 minutes.
Item 3: Citizens’ Forum
No citizens present
Item 4:Report from Coppell Community Garden Representative
: Elaine Webster,
Vice President of CCG, was present to give the 2012 Annual report.
Item 5: Consider approval of 2012-13 Community Improvement Funds for CCG
Motion was made and seconded to approve the $25,000 line item in the
budget.
Item 6: Discussion regarding Coppell Green Team
Board heard Tabitha’s report of her meeting with Tony of the Chamber of
Commerce discussing:a) promotion, b) coordination between the Chamber
and KCB, c) time frame to launch program with businesses.
Item 7: Discussion regarding Adopt-a-Location Program
Committee discussed upcoming contract renewal with groups who haven’t
performed their routes as well as re-evaluating locations that don’t require
adoption. More work on contracts next month.

Item 8: Discussion regarding 4 of July feedback:
This discussion tabled until the
November meeting.
Item 9:Discussion regarding Green Santa and Christmas Parade
Green Santa will be a one day event in selected elementary schools
in the morning to allow high school students to participate during the week of

Dec. 17-21.
Parade plans will be discussed at November’s meeting.
Item 10: Community Programs Report (Written)
1.Residential Recycling Carts Average to date in 2012 –
September – Percent of
Homes that set out carts – 62%. Percent of Waste Diverted by recycling – 18.8%
bringing YTD totals to 62.2% for PR and 18.36% for DR.

2. Coppell Farmers Market –
Food Day for Kids will be held on Oct. 20.
Share the Harvest pounds to Metrocrest: 1,106 lbs. in Sept. for a YTD total of
9,289 pounds.
3.Coppell Community Garden (CCG) –
CCG to present annual report Oct 18th to
KCB meeting.
4.Environmental Education Committee (EEC) –
