CM 1955-12-19 (3) ELECTION NOTICE THE STATE OF TEXAS ~ COUNTY OF DALLAS ~ TOWN OF COPPELL ~ TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS: TAKE NOTICE that an election will be held in the Town of Coppell, Texas, on the 7th day of January, 1956, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a Town Marshal and five Aldermen, pursuant to the following election order: ELECTION ORDER THE STATE OF TEXAS ~ COUNTY OF DALLAS ~ TOWN OF COPPELL ~ WHEREAS, on the 18th day of November, 1955, the application of W. A. Hodges and more than 20 other electors of the proposed Town of Coppell, County of Dallas, State of Texas, residing within the boundaries thereof, was duly signed and presented and filed with me, W. L.. Sterrett, County Judge of Dallas County, Texas, praying that an election be ordered held in said proposed Town of Coppell, Texas, within the boundaries des- cribed in said application by metes and bounds, for the purpose of determining whether said Town of Coppell, Texas, shall form an incorpora- tion for municipal purposes to include the territory described in said application and the said Town to bo incorporated by the name of "Town OF COPPELL, TEXAS", for municipal purposes under and by virtue of uhe Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas, as a Town or Village, under Chapter 11, of Title 28, of Revised Civil Statutes of Texas of 1925; and WHEREAS, on the 21st day of November, 1955, after hearing evidence and proof submitted, I, W. L. Sterrett, County Judge of Dallas County, Texas, called an election to be held on the 17th day of December, 1955, in the proposed Town of Coppell, Texas; and WHEREAS, said election was so held on the 17th day of December, 1955, in accordance with said order and in accordance with the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas, after due notice had been given as reguired by law; and WHEREAS, on the 19th day of December, 1955, returns of said election were duly made and filed with me and being duly opened and canvassed by me and said returns being so canvassed, it was found and determined and adjudged that a majority of the qualified electors voting at said election voted in favor of the Town of Coppell, Texas, being incorporated under the Aldermanic form of government, and I, W. L. Sterrett, County Judge of Dallas County, Texas, entered an order declaring the inhabitants of the territory incorporated; and WHEREAS, Article 1141, of Title 28, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas of 1925, provides that the County Judge shall immediately order an election for a Mayor, a Town Marshl and five Aldermen. THEREFORE, I, W. L. STERRETT, in my official capacity as County Judge of Dallas County, Texas, by virtue of the laws of the State of Texas, particularly Article 1141, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, do hereby order that an election be held in such Town of Coppell, Texas, on the 7th day of January, 1956, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a Town Marshal and five Aldermen. Such election shall be held at theSchool House in said Town of Coppell, Texas, and I hereby appoint T. B. Moore as the Presiding Judge of such election,and the said T. B. Moore shall select two Judges and two Clerks to assist in holding the same. The manner of holding such election shall be governed by the General Laws of the State of Texas, regulating general elections, except as other- wise provided by Title 28, of Revised Civil Statutes of Texas. A copy of this order shall .serve as a proper, and be sufficient notice of said election, and ten (10) days notice of the time and place of holding said election shall be given by posting a copy of the same at each of three public placed in such Town of Coppell, Texas.
