OR 57-11 Annexation 5711
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS
TO AND ADJOINING THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO
THE TOWN OF O0PPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, D. Bass has presented a petition to the Town Council
of the Town of Coppell, Texas, praying that certain lands, more
particularly described in said petition, be annexed to the Town of
Coppell, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that all of the facts contained
in said petition are true and do hereby officially find:
1. That D. Bass is the owner of the land
described in said petition.
2. That the land described in said petition
is located entirely within Dallas County, Texas,
and is contiguous, and adjacent to the Town of
.Coppell, Texas, and on which less than three (3)
qualified voters reside.
3. That none of the territory is more than
one-half mile in width from the present Town
Limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas.
4. That said petition is acknowledged by
every person owning an interest in said land.
and;
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous and
beneficial to the Town of Coppell, Texas, end its inhabitants, as well
as the hereinafter described territory, to annex such territory to the
Town of Coppell, Texas;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
COPPELL, TEXAS:
1. That the territory described as follows:
TRACT NO. 1: Being part of the W. Perry
Survey, Abstract No. 1152, and being a part
of a 30 acre tract in the Northwest corner
of said Survey, and
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of said
30 acre tract in the West line of said Survey;
THENCE East 480 varas to the Southeast corner
of said 30 acre tract;
THENCE North 60 rods to the Northeast corner
of said 30 acre tract;
THENCE West 285 feet to a point in the middle
of Denton Creek;
THENCE Southwesterly with the meanders of the
middle of Denton Creek to the West line of the
Survey;
THENCE South with the West Survey line to the
place of Beginning.
TRACT NO. 2: Being part of the D. Meyers Survey,
Abstract No. 886, and
BEGINNING in the center of the channel of Denton
Creek where it is crossed by the West line of the
W. Perry Survey, being the Northwest corner of
the Tract No. 1;
THENCE South with the Survey 455 feet;
THENCE West 32 feet;
THENCE North 51 deg. 30 min. West 50 feet from
and parallel to the center line of a concrete
highway 546 feet;
THENCE North 38 deg. 30 min. East 146 feet to
the East line of the channel of Denton Creek;
THENCE down Denton Creek to the place of
Beginning.
TRACT NO. 3: Being part of the D. Meyers Survey,
Abstract No, 886, and
BEGINNING at a point, being the Southernmost
corner of said 762 acre tract and the most
Western corner of the Mrs. Neva Gresham tract
in said Survey and being 50 feet perpendicularly
from the center line of Old U. S. Highway 77;
THENCE Northwesterly along the new North line
of Old U. S. Highway 77 parallel to and 50 feet
perpendicularly from the center line 1510 feet
more or less, to a point for corner, a point in
the North line of the D. Meyers Survey, a distance
of 980 feet to a point in the center channel of
Denton Creek;
THENCE Southwesterly with the meanders of the
center line of said channel 880 feet, more or
less, being the Northwest corner of the Neva
Gresham 2.96 acre tract in said Survey;
THENCE Southwesterly 146 feet to the place of
Beginning;
SAVE AND EXCEPT: a right of way conveyed to
Dallas Power & Light Company by deed dated
November 22, 1956.
be and the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas.
2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said
territory shall be a part of said Town of Coppell, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights,
privileges and immunities of all other citizens of the Town of
Coppell, Texas, and shall be bound by all of the ordinances and
regulations enacted pursuant to and in conformity with the general
laws of the State of Texas.
The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants,
are in immediate need of the relief afforded by the provisions of
this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity
emanding that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed as
more than one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take
effect immediately upon and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
Ordinance 57-11 was passed and approved by the Town Council
of the Town of Coppell, Texas on May 22, 1957.
