OR 57-13 Annexation 5713
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS
TO AND ADJOINING THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO
THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, John W. Harrington has presented a petition to the Town
Council of the Town Of Coppell, Texas, praying that certain lands, more
particularly described in said petition, be annexed to the Town of
Coppell, Texs; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that all of the facts contained
in said petition are true and do hereby officially find:
1. That John W. Harrington is the owner of the
land described in said petition.
2. That the land described in said petition
is located entirely within Dallas County, Texas,
and is contiguous and adjacent to the Town of
Coppell, Texas, and on which less than three (3)
qualified voters reside.
3. That none of the territory is more than one-
half mile in width from the present Town Limits
of the Town of Coppell, Texas.
4. That said petition is acknowledged by every
person owning an interest in said land.
and;
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have
investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous
and beneficial to the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, as
well as the hereinafter described territory, to annex such territory
to the Town of Coppell, Texas;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
COPPELL, TEXAS:
1. That the territory described as follows:
Being part of the W. Perry Survey, Abstract
No. 1152, and
BEGINNING at a point in the North line of a
38.1 acre tract which point is the South line
of State Highway No. 40 and the West line of
a tract of land conveyed by A. C. Kicksey, et
ux, to the City of Dallas, out of said 38.1
acres, the same being the top of the West bank
of the East Fork of Trinity River;
THENCE West along the South line of said Road
140 feet;
THENCE Southerly 415 feet to a point 170 feet
West of the West line of a lot of land deeded
to the City of Dallas and at the top of the West
bank of the East Fork of the Trinity River;
THENCE East to the West of the lot of land
conveyed to the City of Dallas;
THENCE Northerly along the West line of said
tract of land conveyed to the City of Dallas
and the top of the West bank of the East Fork
of the Trinity River to the place of Beginning.
be and the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas.
2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri-
tory shall be a part of said Town of Coppell, Texas, and the inhabitants
thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights, privileges and immunities
of all other citizens of the Town of Coppell,Texas, and shall be bound
by all of the ordinances and regulations enacted pursuant to and in
conformity with the general laws of the State of Texas.
The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants,
are in immediate need of the relief afforded by the provisions of this
ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity demand-
ing that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed at more than
one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately
upon and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
Ordinance 57-13 was passed and approved by the Town Council
of the Town of Coppell, Texas on July 1, 1957.
