OR 57-14 Annexation 5714 AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO AND ADJOINING THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, TO THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, J. W. Hudnall, Jr., J. B. Lesley and C. R. Lesley have presented a petition to the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, praying that certain lands, more particularly described in said petition, be annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas; ard WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have investigated into and have determined that all of the facts contained in said petition are true and do hereby officially find: 1. That J. W. Hudnall, Jr., J. B. Lesley and C. R. Lesley are the owners of the land described in said petition. 2. That the land described in said petition is located entirely within Dallas County, Texas, and is contiguous and aSJacent to the To~ of Coppell, Texas, and on which less than three (3) qualified voters reside. 3. That none of the territory is more than one-half mile in width from the present Town Limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas. 4. That said petition is acknowledged by every person owning an interest in said land. and; WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, have investigated into and have determined that it would be advantageous and beneficial to the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, as well as the hereinafter described territory, to annex such terri- tory to the Town of Coppell, Texas; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS: 1. That the territory described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the North right of way line of Old U. S. Highway 77 at its inter- section with the corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas, as extended; THENCE East along the North right of way line of Old U.S. Highway 77 to the Southeast corner of a tract of land conveyed to J. B. Barr, Jr. by deed dated August 23, 1955, recorded in Vol. 4328, Page 604, Deed Records of Dallas County, Texas; THENCE North with theEast line of said. Barr tract to the South line of the John Jackson Survey, Abstract No. 698; THENCE West to the Northwest bank of Denton Creek; THENCE in a Northeasterly direction with the meanderings of the North bank of Denton Creek to its intersection with the Nsst line of an easement conveyed to Dallas Power & Light Co. by two separate deeds, dated Dec. 5 and Dec. 28, 1956, respectively; THENCE Southwesterly with the West line of said Dallas Power & Light Company easement to the South right of way line of Old U. S. Highway 77; THENCE West along the South right of way line of Old U. S. Highway 77 to the Northwest corner of a tract of land conveyed to George W. and John W. Harrington by deed recorded in Vol. 3693, Page 525, Deed Records, Dallas County, Texas; THENCE South with the West line of said Harrington tract to its Southwest corner; THENCE East along the South line of said Harrington tract to the top of the West bank of Elm Fork of Trinity River; THENCE Southeasterly along the top of the West bank of Elm Fork of Trinity River to the East line of the W.Perry Survey, Abstract No. 1152; THENCE South along the East line of said Perry Survey to .the North right of way line of the St. Louis and Southwestern Ry.; THENCE West with the North right of way line of the St. Louis and Southwestern Ry. to the East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas; THENCE North with the East corporate limits of the Town of Coppell, Texas, to the place of Beginning; SAVE AND EXCEPT: a tract of land out of the John Jackson Survey, Abstract No. 698, conveyed to R. J. Barr by deed dated September 23, 1955. be and the same is hereby annexed to the Town of Coppell, Texas. 2. That from and after the passage of this ordinance, said terri- tory shall be a part of said Town of Copi~ell, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights, privileges and immunities of all other citizens ofthe Town of Coppell, Texas, and shall be bound by all of the ordinances and regulations enacted pursuant to and in con- formity with the general laws of the State of Texas. The fact that the Town of Coppell, Texas, and its inhabitants, are in immediate need of the relief afforded by the provisions of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity demand- ing that any and all rules requiring ordinances to be passed at more than one meeting be suspended, and that this ordinance take effect immediately upon and after its passage, and it is so ordained. Ordinance 57-14 was passed and approved by the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas on July 1, 1957.
