BM 2013-11-04 PBa PARKS AND RECREATION/COPPELL RECREATION DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION/TREE BOARD MEETING MINUTES November 4, 2013 Meeting Time: 6:30 p.m. Meeting Place: Coppell Road Service Center 816 S. Coppell Road Coppell, Texas 75019 Members Present: Maureen Corcoran, John Davis, Philip Houm, Greg Garcia, Lisa Montes, Bill Whitehill, Vinayak Sahal Staff Present: Brad Reid, Guy McLain, John Elias, Cecilia Gandara, Doug Kratz The Coppell Park and Recreation Board/CRDC/Tree Board met at 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013, in the meeting room at the Coppell Road Service Center. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the following items: AGENDA Item 1: Call the meeting to order. - Mr. Greg Garcia called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. Item 2: Citizen's Forum. - No citizens present COPPELL RECREATION DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ITEMS Item 3: Consider approval of the minutes from the October 7, 2013 meeting - Mr. Bill Whitehill motioned to approve. - Mr. Phillip Houm seconded the motion. All in favor. Approved Item 4: Discussion regarding the prioritization of trail sections in the Trail System Implementation Plan - The board discussed creating goals and strategies for the prioritization of the trail sections. TREE BOARD ITEMS Item 5: Discussion regarding the Tree Preservation Ordinance. Mr. John Elias informed the board that the Tree Preservation Ordinance needs to be revised. The bard recommended that he form a subcommittee to come up with a recommendation to bring back to the board. Item 6: Tree City USA Update - Mr. John Elias gave an update on how the city became a Tree City USA city. PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD ITEMS M Meeting Minutes 11/4/13 Page 2 Item 7: Discussion regarding holding a special meeting to establish Park Board Strategies and Goals - The board decided to hold an offsite retreat to discuss what the goals are for the year and what needs to be accomplished. Item 8: Youth Advisor's Report • Mr. Vinayak Sahal mentioned that he had fun at the Oak Fest event but would like to see more food vendor. Item 9: Sports Council Update • Mr. Phillip Houm updated the board on the recent Sports Council meeting. Item 10: Director's Report • Special Activities o Dog Park Grand Opening is November 9. o The Lighted Parade and Tree lighting will be held on December 7. • Project Update o The construction of the Bio Diversity Center should be close to completion on Thanksgiving week. There will still be work to be done inside. o The Old Town Square project is behind schedule. o Phase II of the Erosion Control project will begin soon at Andrew Brown East Park. Item 11: Chair Report • Future Agenda Items o No items at this time. • Adopt a Location o Next pick up will be Saturday, December 7. Item 12: Adjourn • Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
