The Coppell Park and Recreation Board met on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 6:30 p.m., in the meeting
room at the Coppell Road Service Center. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the following
items:
AGENDA
Item 1: Call the meeting to order.
- Mr. Greg Garcia called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Item 2: Citizen's Forum.
- Ms. Pat Lambert, 764 S. Poyeras, Lewisville, TX, Ms. Pat Quinlan, 181 Simmons Dr.,
Ms. Jean Murph, 446 W. Bethel, stated their concerns regarding the preservation of trees
and suggested that the Tree Preservation Ordinance be reviewed to allow for the
designation of more historic trees.
- Mr. Biju Basheer, 932 Hidden hollow Court, Mr. Sumedh Panaparambil, 629
Westminster Way, expressed their interest for more volleyball courts throughout the city
and perhaps adding lighted courts or an indoor facility.
Item 3: Election of officers
- Mr. Bill Whitehill motioned to nominate Mr. Greg Garcia as Chair, Mr. Jack Clark as
Vice Chair, and Mr. Ed Guignon as Secretary.
- Ms. Maureen Corcoran seconded the motion. All in favor. Approved
Item 4: Consider approval of the minutes from the December 2, 2013 meeting
- Mr. Bill Whitehill motioned to approve.
- Mr. Ed Guignon seconded the motion. All in favor. Approved
Item 5: Consider approval of the minutes from the January 11, 2014 meeting
- Mr. Bill Whitehill motioned to approve.
- Mr. Ed Guignon seconded the motion. All in favor. Approved
Item 6: Discussion and consider approval of Park Board Strategic Goals for 2014
- Mr. Bill Whitehill motioned to approve.
- Mr. Jack Clark seconded the motion. All in favor. Approved
Item 7: Youth Advisors Report
Ms. Erin Crumpler suggested that there be classes for pet training provided at the Dog
Park. She also suggested we provide more activities for teens during special events and
possibly adding after school and end of summer events.
Item 8: Director's Report
• Project Update
o Old Coppell Square project is close to completion.
• Special Events
o Old Coppell Square grand opening will be held on May 2 and May 3.
o The Biodiversity Education Center grand opening will be held on April 22.
Item 9: Chair Report
• No items at this time.
Item 10: Adjourn
- Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
