LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
August 7, 2014
The William T. Cozby Public Library Advisory Board met in special session on Thursday, August 7,
2014 in the program room of the William T. Cozby Public Library.
1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair, Wednesday Foster at 7:31 p.m.
Other board members present were Emily Nance, Thomas Dwyer, Pat Nicks, Stephen Charters, Adrienne
Morton and Marilou Schrimshaw. Youth Advisors Nicole Crumpler and Sujal Manohar were also present.
Staff in attendance were Library Director, Vicki Chiavetta, Assistant Library Director, Jane Darling and
Sr. Administrative Technician, Kim McGrath.
2. CITIZENS APPEARANCES: None.
3. LIBRARY EXPANSION UPDATE: Recent cost estimates for the library expansion has
required the architect to revise the conceptual plan to bring the project closer to the budget. Vicki
Chiavetta presented several new options that include moving off-site during the renovation, a drive -up
book drop, a drop-off area in the front of the building and an expanded parking lot. The revised plan
retains many of the elements the public focus groups indicated as important.
Vicki said the new renovation options would be presented to Council on Tuesday, August 12t"and again
on Thursday, August 141h for the joint Council/Library Board Work Session. Discussion ensued.
4. LIBRARY NAME: Vicki explained the name change for the library as recommended by the
City Manager. Discussion followed.
5. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Wednesday Foster adjourned the meeting at 8:14 p.m.
