ORDINANCE NO. 2014-1398
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 1, “ADMINISTRATION”,
ARTICLE 1-4, “OFFICIAL CITY MAP”, BY AMENDING SECTION 1-
4-2(T), “STREET NAME CHANGES”, BY CHANGING THE STREET
NAME OF “CHARTWELL,” TO “HACKBERRY”; PROVIDING FOR
A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A REPEALING
CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS
, the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, has deemed it appropriate to
change the name of “Chartwell,” in its entirety, to “Hackberry”; and,
WHEREAS
, the City Council has determined that renaming “Chartwell” to “Hackberry”
is consistent with the ordinances of the City and in the best interest of the citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
That Chapter 1, Article 1-4, Section 1-4-2(T), “Street Name Changes”, of
the Coppell Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by changing the name of Chartwell Road to
Hackberry Road, which shall hereinafter read as follows:
“Chapter 1
ADMINISTRATION
ARTICLE 1-4 OFFICIAL CITY MAP
…..
Sec. 1-4-2. Street name changes.
…..
T. Chartwell Road, from its intersection with Belt Line Road eastbound
to the east city limits of Coppell, shall henceforth be named Hackberry
Road.”
SECTION 2.
Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or
section of this ordinance, be adjudged or held to be void or unconstitutional, the same shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of said ordinance, which shall remain in full force
and effect.
SECTION 3.
All ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas, in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance be, and the same are hereby, repealed; provided, however, that all
other provisions of said ordinances not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall
remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage
and the publication of the caption, as the law and charter in such cases provide.
