COPPELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
November 5, 2014
MINUTES
The Coppell Economic Development Committee met on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at
Coppell Town Center, Second Floor Conference Room, 255 E Parkway Boulevard, Coppell,
Texas, 75019. The following were present: Bill Rohloff, Chairperson, Don Carroll, Vice
Chairperson, Davin Bernstein, Jeff Varnell, Sue Bird, Monica Diamond, Maggie Lucas, Scott
Spray, Aaron Straach, George Williford (alternate), Vincent Hsieh (alternate), Mindi Hurley and
Ashley Owens.

1. Call to Order
Chairperson Rohloff called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m.
2.Approval of Minutes – October 1, 2014
Motion by Maggie Lucas, second by Davin Bernstein, to approve the October 1, 2014,
minutes as presented. AYE: All. The motion passed unanimously.
3.Work Plan for 2015
Mindi and the committee agreed that the Work Plan for 2015 was sufficient and that there
should be no additions to the list.
4.Presentation and Discussion Regarding Tree Preservation Ordinance
Guy McLain, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, and John Elias, Park
Operations Manager, presented the proposed changes to the Tree Preservation Ordinance.
Committee members were asked to give feedback to the proposed changes which would
then be relayed back to the Park Board. Committee members came to a consensus that in
order for Coppell to remain economically-competitive in the Metroplex, the ordinance
should remain as is. The committee recommended that the tree mitigation fee should be
increased since the original fee was established some time ago.
5.Business Newsletter
The committee agreed to save funds and distribute the newsletter electronically. They
also agreed that the newsletter should have the City logo on it. Mindi will begin adding
pictures or logos of any new businesses that come in to Coppell. Members suggested
allowing the businesses to provide a picture in order to cut down on the time it takes to
drive to the business and take a picture.
6.General Discussion and Update on Commercial and Industrial Projects
There will not be a meeting in December due to the busy holiday season. The most recent

Old Town concert was discussed. The Taste of Coppell will be held on November 9.
Davin Bernstein and Scott Spray will not be returning to the committee in 2015. Their
service was appreciated by all and we wish them well. The Boards and Commission

Reception will be held on December 9 at 6 p.m.
