AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 8-3-1
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL
FOR ANY PERSON TO PARK A VEHICLE B~EEN THE HOURS OF 7:30 A.M. TO 8:30
A.M. AND FROM 2:15 P.M. TO 3:45 P.M. ON MOORE ROAD ON THE EAST AND WEST
SIDE FROM 153 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF PHEASANT LANE TO THE
NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF SHADOW CREST AND ON MOCKINGBIRD LANE ON
THE EAST SIDE FROM THE NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF FALCON LANE TO THE
NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF VILLAWOOD LANE; PROVIDING A REPEALING
CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($500.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE, EXCEPT THAT WHERE A DIFFERENT
PENALTY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED BY STATE LAW FOR SUCH OFFENSE, THE
PENALTY SHALL BE THAT FIXED BY STATE LAW, AND FOR ANY OFFENSE WHICH IS
A VIOLATION OF ANY PROVISION THAT GOVERNS FIRE SAFETY, ZONING, PUBLIC
HEALTH OR SANITATION OR THE DUMPING OF REFUSE OR JUNK THE PENALTY
SHALL BE A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS
($2,000.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: AMENDING SECTION 8-3-1 OF CHAPTER 8 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL
Section 8-3-1 of Chapter 8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppall is
hereby amended by adding thereto the shaded portions marked below, thereby making
said section read as follows:
"Sec. 8-3-1 NO PARKING ON SPECIFIC STREETS
NO PARKING ON SPECIFIC STREETS
It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle except when
necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the
Law or the direction of a Police Officer or Traffic Control Officer or
Traffic Control Device on the following streets:
SOUTH SIDE OF WEST KAY STREET in the three hundred (300)
and four hundred (400) blocks. (Ord. 141)
BETHEL SCHOOL ROAD between its intersection with Denton Tap
Road and Moore Road. (Ord. 254)
FREEPORT PARKVVAY in its entirety. (Ord. 251)
HEARTZ ROAD in its entirety. (Ord. 268)
SHADOWCREST DRIVE on the north side, between the
intersections of Moore Road and Wise Way. (Ord. 309)
WOODHURST DRIVE on the north side, between the intersections
of Sandy Knoll Drive and Hertz Road. (Ord. 309)
SANDY KNOLL DRIVE on both sides, between the intersections of
Shadowcrest Drive and Woodhurst Drive. (Ord. 309)
MOCKINGBIRD ~.~N~ on its West side only, in its entirety. (Ord.
317)
PARKWAY BOULEVARD on the south side, from a point ("A") being
the intersection of the south curb line of said Parkway Boulevard as
extended and the west curb line of Moore Road as extended, to a
point in the south curb line of Parkway Boulevard located 60 feet
west of said point "A".
MOORE ROAD on the east side, between Parkway Boulevard and
Sandy Lake Road from point ("A") being 70 feet south of the south
curb line of the entrance into Town Lake Apartment complex to a
point 186 feet north of said point "A"
It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle except when
necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the
Law or the direction of a Police Officer or Traffic Control Officer or
Traffic Control Device on the following streets between the hours of
7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.:
MOORE ROAD (at Barbara S. Austin Elementary School) on the
east and west side from 153 feet north of the centerline of Pheasant
Lane to the north right-of-way line of Shadow Crest.
MOCKINGBIRD LANE (at Mockingbird Middle School) on the east
side from the north right-of*way line of Falcon Lane to the north right-
of*way line of Villawood Lane."
SECTION 2. REPEALING CLAUSE
All parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this
ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to
be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction shall be punished by a
penalty of fine not to exceed the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each offense,
except where a different penalty has been established by state law the penalty shall be
that fixed by state law, and for any offense which is a violation of any provision that
governs fire safety, zoning, public health and sanitation or the dumping of refuse or junk
as such terms are defined by Section 365.011 of the Texas Litter Abatement Act, Chapter
365 V.T.C.A., Health and Safety Code, as amended, the penalty shall be a fine not to
exceed the sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for each offense, and each and
every day such offense is continued shall constitute a new and separate offense.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of its
caption, as the law in such cases provides.
