p.m. Other board members present were Madeleine White, Janet Koester, Sherry Carr -Smith, Pankaj Jain,
Frank Gasparro and Youth Advisors Priya Marella and Tharani Muthkumar. Staff in attendance were

in favor and the minutes were approved.
3. CITIZEN'S APPEARANCES: None
4. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
• Workload Indicators: Dennis Quinn talked about the online system for volunteers. The
library's volunteer coordinators have been working with the city's software to make it
more efficient in the recruitment of volunteers.
The library received new computers which are equipped with Windows 10. Library staff
are being given time to become familiar with the software before the new computers are
made available to the public. A scanning station has been set up for the digitization of the
newspapers and volunteers have been recruited to help with this project.
Dennis went over statistics for the month. Circulation numbers, renewals and program
statistics have seen an increase. The Mobile PAC numbers were down again which is
likely due to the installation of the tablets on the end caps. Checkouts for the TAMS
boxes and Early Literacy Backpacks continue to rise.
• Programs: ESL Conversation Club, Medical Screening After 50, What Were You
Thinking? and a Career Fair were some of the programs held in January. Programs
scheduled for February include the Chinese New Year, Solar Cars with Coppell
Motorsport and an author visit with Jennifer Mathieu.
5. LIBRARY REPORT TO COUNCIL: The Library Report to Council is scheduled to be
presented at the April 10`h Council meeting.
6. YOUTH ADVISOR'S REPORT: Youth Advisors Tharani Muthukmar and Priya Marella gave
a presentation on tutoring services which they hope to make available at the library. The two main
platforms discussed were Easy Tutor and Tutor Me Texas, both of which are currently being used by
Coppell students. Tharani and Priya would like to coordinate tutoring services before exam time with the
library as the venue for the classes. Discussion ensued regarding age limits and background checks of
volunteers.
7. FRIENDS OF THE COPPELL LIBRARY REPORT: Steve Charters, President of the
Friends group, gave the report. One of the goals of the group is to expand participation and grow the base
membership. The annual meeting will be held in May. The Friends have funded the TAMS boxes and
Early Literacy backpacks and are sponsoring the author visit by Jennifer Mathieu in February. They are
collecting books on behalf of the `Empower Playgrounds in Africa' project. The group regularly has a
table at the Coppell Farmer's Market.
8. LIBRARY BOARD GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Janet Koester suggested taking out the
parenthetical examples from goals 1 a and 3b. Madeleine White moved to approve and Janet Koester
seconded. All were in favor and the goals were approved.
