OR 90-481 Committe; Coppell's Private Club Ordinance AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPEI.L, TEXAS ORDINANCENO. 90481 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, CREATING A "PRIVATE CLUB" COMMITTEE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVIEWING THE CITY'S PRIVATE CLUB ORDINANCE, GIVING AUTHORITY TO THE MAYOR TO APPOINT SUCH COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR CONFIRMATION BY COUNCIL; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on July 24, 1990, the City Council resolved that a committee be created for the specific purpose of reviewing the City's Private Club Ordinance, said Committee to be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1. APPOINTMENT OF PRIVATE CLUB COMMITTEE There is hereby created a Committee to be known as the "Private Club" Committee to be composed of eight (8) citizens, two (2) Planning & Zoning Commission members, and three (3) councilmen. A list of prospective appointees shall be prepared by each council member recommending one (1) citizen to be considered for appointment. From the list, the Mayor shall make the appointments to be confirmed by oral motion of the City Council. SECTION 2. DUTIES OF COMMITTEE The Private Club Committee is appointed for the specific purpose of reviewing the existing Private Club Ordinance to determine whether a change should be made, whether to allow it to remain in its existing form, or whether to repeal the Ordinance and thereby require the City to operate under State guidelines. SECTION 3. TERM OF COMMITTEE Said Committee shall stand appointed for such termas shall be necessary to complete and file its recommendation with the City Manager of the City of Coppell, Texas, and for such further period of time as the City Council shall direct or until such time as the Committee's recommendation is acted upon by the City Council of the City of Coppell. SECTION 4. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of its caption, as the law in such cases provides.
