CM 1964-10-05STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS TOWN OF COPPELL The Town council of the Town of Coppell, Texas convened on this 5th. day of Oct.1964 in regular meeting with the following mem- hers present to wit; W.T. Cozby Mayor C. T. Waters Councilman B. J. Harwell " W.H. Wison " J. R. McDonald " C.J.Dobecka E.C.Gentry City Secretary Lawrence W. Jackson Town Attorney Constituting a quorum where amoung other preceedings has was the following; I, Travis Maynard, the Fire Chief, reported to the council that the old fire truck that had been used for fighting grass fires had went to pieces. The truck itself belonged to the county the fire dept. had been keeping it up. It had been overhauled 2 or 3 times. He felt that it was not worth fixing any more and that he felt that since the fire dept. had a good truck at Tutt Store that was doing no one any good, he wanted to Know how thecouncil felt about bringing that truck back to the Central Station. After discuss- ion of the question, motion & second and unamimously carried that we go along with Chief Maynard on a temporary basis and maybe there could be something worked out and then the truck would be carried back to Tutt Store. 2. Mrs. Dave Pruitt appeared before the council and asked for permit to move two houses in on her place. She was told that the council had decided against letting the houses be moved in. 3. Jimmie Blackman asked for permit to build a service station or the corner of Denton Tap & Belt Line Roads. This matter of business was tabled until he furnished the council with specifications. 4. Mr. Cozby stated that Mr. Wall, the policeman, had asked for some help, and that he thought that C. R. Story wouId like to work with Mr. Wall. Motion made by B.J. Harwell that C.R. Story be appointed to work with Mr. Wall on a no salary basis. Seconded by C. J. Dobecka. Vote ayes - Dobecka, Wilson, Harwell and McDonald Noes - none One abstained 5. Minutes for July 20, 1964 and for September, 1964 were read and approved. 6. Mr. Cozby said that the council needed to meet twice a month. motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried theft the council meet 1st and 3rd Monday nights for regular meetings. 7. The following resolution was read by Mayor Cozby for adoption by the council: RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Town of Coppell, Texas, has heretofore on the 1st day of October, 1964, filed with the Town Secretary a general budget for the Town of Coppell, Texas, covering the fiscal year October 1, 1964, to September 30, 1965; and WHEREAS, the governing body of the Town of Coppell desires to provide for a public hearing on such budget; and WHEREAS, the following Resolution was submitted to the governing body of the Town of Coppell, Texas, at a regular meeting of the Town Council for its consideration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF COPPELL, TEXAS: Section 1: That the Town Council of the Town of Coppell finds that the Mayor has filed on October 1, 1964, with the Town Secretary, a general budget for the Town of Coppell for the fiscal year October 1, 1964, to September 30, 1965, Section 2: That in order to provide for a public hearing on such budget, the Town Council of the Town of Coppell, Texas, hereby declares that said hearing shall take place on the 29th day of October, 1964, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. That the place of said hearing will be the Town Hall (City Hall) in Coppell, Texas. Section 3: That public notice of the hour, date and place of such hearing shall be made public by the posting of a copy of this Resolution in three (3) public places in the Town, one of which shall be the Town Hall building and the publication of this Resolution in one issue of the official town newspaper, Lewisville Leader which is a weekly publication. DULY PASSED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Coppell on the 5th day of Oct, , 1964, with W. H. Wilson and C. T. Waters B. J. Harwell, J. R. McDonald and C. J. Dobecka voting for such Resoulution and None voting against such Resolution. W. T. Cozby Mayor ATTESTED: E. C. Gentry City Secretary Motion made by W. H. Wilson that the resolution be adopted as read. Seconded by J. R. McDonald. Vote ayes: Waters, Harwell, Wilson, McDonald & Dobecka. By motion and second and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned.
