OR 89-457 Changes the name of the Old Town Center Ad Hoc Committee AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 89457 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF THE OLD TOWN CENTER AD HOC COMMITTEE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Article 8 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Coppell, Texas states that the City Council shall, by ordinance, prescribe the purpose, composition, functions, duties, accountability and tenure of each board, commission, and committee, where such are not prescribed by law or this charter; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Coppell wishes to create a committee for the historic preservation of designated areas of the City; and, WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc Committee previously known as the Old Town Center Ad Hoc Committee will assume the responsibilities of a historic committee in the City of Coppell; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: Section 1. That the Old Town Center Ad Hoc Committee appointsd by the City Council of the City of CoppeIl on June 13, 1989 is hereby designated as the COPPELL HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMITTEE. Section 2. That said Committee shall be comprised of members appointed by the City Council who have resided within the corporate limits of the City for one (1) year and are registered voters qualified to vote in municipal elections. Section 3. That two City Council members shall be appointed as liaisons to this Committee. Section 4. That the purpose of said Committee shall be to develop a plan for the preservation of the Coppell Historic District and to inform the City Council and citizens relative to this project. Section 5. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. If any article, paragraph, or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adJudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage, as the law in such cases provides.
