CM 1967-02-20STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS. The Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, metin regular meeting on the 20th day of February, 1967 with the following members present to-wit: W. T. Cozby, Mayor W. H. Wilson, Councilman C. J. Dobecka~ Councilman C. J. Plumlee, Jr., Councilman Thomas Sisk, Councilman B. J. Hatwell, Councilman constituting a quorum, where among other proceedings had was the following: Notice of elbction was given. Mayor Cozby read the order of election to be held in the City of Coppell for the purpose of electing a mayor and two councilmen. Election to be held April 4, 1967. (copy of notice attached). W. H. Wilson made motion that order be passed and C, J. Dobecka seconded it. Vote carried. Morgan Johnson met with the Council to discuss the garbage franchise. No action was taken at present time. THE STATE OF TEXAS I ELECTION OF CITY OFFICIALS COUNTY OF DALLAS I OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, CITY OF COPPELL I TEXAS, APRIL 4, 1967 ELECTION NOTICE TO LEGALLY QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to an Order passed on the 20th. day of February , 1967, by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, an election will be held in the City of Coppell, Texas, on the 4th day of April, 1967, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) Councilmen. The polling place for said election shall be the City Hall and the polls shall be open from 7 A. M. to 7 P. M. All persons who have resided in the City of Coppell for six (6) months immediately preceding the election and who are otherwise legally qualified to vote under the laws of the State of Texas are authorized to vote at said' election. Gentry City Secretary, City of Coppell, Texas THE STATE OF TEXAS I ORDER CALLING AN ELECTION FOR THE ELECTION OF A COUNTY OF DALLAS I MAYOR AND TWO (2) CITY COUNCILMEN IN THE CITY CITY OF COPPELL I OF COPPELL, TEXAS BE IT REMEMBERED on this the 20th, day of February , 1967, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, passed the following order, to-wit: IT IS ORDERED that an election be held on the 4th day of April, 1967, the same being the first Tuesday of said month, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) City Councilmen. The polling place for said election shall be City Hall, and the polls shall be open from 7 A. M. to 7 P. M. o'c!ock. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes cast for Mayor shall be elected Mayor for a term of two (2) years. The two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast for Councilmen shall be elected Councilmen for a term of two (2) years. In the event of a tie vote for any particular office, the Council shall order a special election between such candidates only. None but legally qualified voters of the City of Coppe].l, Texas, shall be entitled to vote at said election. Notice of such election shall be postedin three (3) public places within the limits of the City at ].east thirty (30) days prior to the election day. A certified copy of this Order shall be attached to said Notice and made a part thereof. A return of such posting shall be made by affidavit of the City Secretary. That Mrs Roy Phillips is appointed presiding Election Judge and Mrs. C.T. Waters is appointed alternate presiding Election Judge and the presiding Election Judge shall appoint two Election Clerks to serve at the election, all of said Judges and Election Clerks shall be qualified voters in the City. After the holding of said election, the Election Judges shall promptly make their returns to the City Secretary and the Mayor, and the Secretary shall thereafter present such returns to the City Council for the canvassing of said election. The presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $ 12.00 __, the alternate presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $ 12,00 and the Election Clerks shall be paid the sum of $ 12.00 , for their services in holding said election, which amount may not in any case exceed $1.00 per hour. Gentry , known to me to be the person whose name is subscribed hereto, and after being by me duly sworn, did depose and say: (1) That he is fully competent to make oath of all the facts herein stated, and that he is City Secretary of the City of Coppell, Texas. (2) That on the 20th day of February , 1967, he received three copies of the attached election notice for posting same as required by law. (3) That he posted a true and correct copy of said election notice at each of the following public places in the City of Coppell, Texas, to-wit: 1. City Hall, Coppell,Texas 2. Coppell Superete,Coppell,Texas 3. Ray Gower Service Station, Coppell, Texas (4) That said notices were posted by him on the 21st. day of February , 1967, which date is at least thirty (30) days before the date designated for holding the election / therein referred to, and that the places of posting same as above described are public places within the City of Coppell, Texas.
