CM 1968-02-19 TATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, met in regular session February 19, 1968, with the following members present to-wit: W. T. Cozby, Mayor Jim McGiboney, Councilman Thomas Sisk, Councilman C. L. Plumlee, Jr., Councilman W. H. Wilson, Councilman E. C. Gentry, Secretary Motion was made and seconded that the Mayor call an election for April 6, 1968,for the purpose of electing three (3) councilmen for the term of two (2) years and one (1) councilman for a term of one (1) year. Motion was made by W. H. Wilson and seconded by Thomas Sisk. Vote was unanimous. Motion was made by W. H. Wilson, seconded by Jim McGiboney, to to have the City Secretary file for absentee ballot returns. Vote carried. Motion was made by W. H. Wilson and seconded by Thomas Sisk that the subscription for magazine for the Fire Department be paid as requested. Vote carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned. Gentry, Secretary THE STATE OF TEXAS I ELECTION OF CITY OFFICERS COUNTY OF DALLAS I CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, CITY OF COPPELL I APRIL 6, 1968 ELECTION NOTICE TO THE LEGALLY QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to an order passed on the 19th.day of February , 1968, by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, an election will be held in the City of Coppell, Texas, on the 6th day of April, 1968, for the purpose of electing three (3) Councilmen for a term of two (2) years and one Councilman for a term of one (1) year. The polling place for said election shall be the City Hall, Coppell, Texas, and the polls shall be open from 7:00 A. M. to 7:00 P. M. All persons who have resided in the City of Coppell for six (6) months immediately preceding the election and who are otherwise legally qualified to vote under the laws of the State of Texas are authorized to vote at said election. Gentry CITY SECRETARY, Coppell, Texas THE STATE OF TEXAS ][ ORDER CALLING AN ELECTION FOR THE ELECTION OF COUNTY OF DALLAS I CITY COUNCILMEN IN CITY OF COPPELL ~ THE CITY OF COPPELL~ TEXAS BE IT REMEMBERED on this the 19 day of February 1968, the Mayor of the City of Coppell, Texas, issued the follow- ing order, to-wit: IT IS ORDERED that an election be held in the City of Coppe!], Texas, on the 6th day of April, 1968, the same being the first Saturday of said month, for the purpose of electing a four (4) City Councilmen. The polling place for said election shall be the City Hall, Coppel!, Texas, and the polls shall be open from 7:00 A. M. to 7:00 P. M. o'clock. The three (3) candidates receivin~ the highest number of votes cast for Councilmen for a ter,n~ of two (2) years shall be elected Councilmen for a term of two (2) years. The one candidate receiving the highest num'Der of votes cast for Council- -- man for the unexpired one (! year term of office shall be elected Councilman for a term of one (1) year. None but legally qualified voters of the City shall be entitled to vote at said election. Notice of such election shall be posted in three public places within the limits of the City at least thirty days prior to the election day. A certified copy of this order shall be attached to said notice and made a part thereof. A return of such posting shall be made by affidavit of the City Secretary. That Harriet Waters is appointed presiding Election Judge and B. L. Rush is appointed alternate _ presiding Election Judge and Mary V. Johnson and Mary Perkins are hereby appointed Election Clerks to serve at the election. All of said Judges and Election Clerks shall be qualified voters in the City. After the holding of said election, the Election Judges shall promptly make their returns to the City Secretary and to the Mayor, and the Secretary shall thereafter present such returns to the City Council for the canvassing of said election. The Presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $ 15.00 the alternate Presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $ 15,00 and the Election Clerks shall be paid the sum of $ 15.00 , for their services in holding said election, which amount may not in any case exceed $1.25 per hour. C. Gentry , known to me to be the person whose name is subscried hereto, and after being by me duly sworn, did depose and say: (1) That he is fully competent to make oath of all the facts herein stated, and that she is City Secretary of the City of Coppell, Texas. (2) That on the 21st day of february , 1968, he received three copies of the attached election notice for posting same as required by law. (3) That he posted a true and correct copy of said election notice at each of the following public places in the City of Coppell, Texas, to-wit: 1. City Hall 2. Coppell Supperette 3. Hodges Service Station (4) That said notices were posted by him on the 21st day of February , 1968, which date is at least thirty (30) days before the date designated for holding the election therein referred to, and that the places of posting same as above described are public places within the City of Coppell, Texas.
