CM 1972-06-05 COUNTY OF DALLAS /~) STATE OF TEXAS The City Council of the City of Coppell met in regular session on June 5, 1972, in the fire station. The following members were present: Hulen Scott, Mayor Bob Hefner, Mayor Pro Tern Don Carter, Councilman Sam Tiner, Councilman Councilmen James Henderson and Bill Harris were not present. Also present was City Administrator Sam Little and City Attorney Larry Jackson. The meeting was called to order and the audience asked to stand while Councilman Carter gave the invocation. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and the following corrections noted: On the Plumlee house, the motion made by Mayor pro tem Hernet included that the Building Inspector and the City Council will inspect the house when the 90 to 120 days are up and will approve it if it conforms to and is equal to the environment of the surrounding area. Also, on the Bethel Road extension, the Cotton Belt Railroad objected to Route "A" because it crossed their tracks at one point, and they stated they will be in touch with the city administrator to make an appointment to come before the City Council to discuss this subject. Councilman Carter moved that the minutes be approved as corrected. Mayor pro tern Hefner seconded; motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. The first item to be considered was the approval of the bills. The following departmental totals were presented: Water Department $3Z4.64 Police Department 141.11 Public Works Department 138.91 _ - Fire Department Z. 88 General Government 42.18 Councilman Carter moved that the bills be approved for payment. Councilman Tiner seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Councilman Carter moved that the items on the agenda be taken in order and that Item 5 be considered next (consideration of termination of employment of city attorney and replacement). Mayor pro-tem Hefner seconded; motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Councilman Carter then moved that we continue the employment of the present city attorney, Larry Jackson. Councilman Tiner seconded; motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his disapproval. City Administrator Sam Little then gave a status report. He stated the city's share of the "701" plan, to be paid in two payments, is $5,665.00, and that the City has received enough contributions to pay the first installment; that we lack a little over $1,000 to meet the second payment. Also, the CPA, Mr. Mayberry, that is going over the books, will submit a written report to the city administrator and that he hopes to have it by next Monday. "' The City Attorney, Larry Jackson, then presented a rough draft to the mayor and Council members on a proposed ordinance to tax mobile home owners. This ' matter will be considered at a later date.
