CM 1973-06-26STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The City Council of the City of Coppell met in regular session on June Z6, 1973 in the fire station meeting room. The following members were present: Hulen Scott, Mayor Bob Hernet, Mayor Pro Tern Don Carter, Councilman Hazel Beal, Councilwoman Councilmen Sam Tiner and Bill Harris were not present. Also present were City Administrator George Campbell and City Secretary Dorothy Tirnmons. The meeting was called to order and the audience asked to stand while Council- woman Beal led in a moment of silent prayer followed by the Lord' s Prayer. Mayor Pro Tern Hernor moved that the reading of the minutes be waived; Councilman Cartot seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Mayer Pro Tern Hernor then moved that the minutes be approved; Councilwoman Beal seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Mrs. Andy Grant, representing the Citizen's Advisory Committee, was present to report on the activities of this committee. There are several road improvement projects and new roads that are being studied for Councilwoman Beal to take to Dallas County to be included in next year's bond program. Under old business, the fire station addition was discussed. After comparing the different additions presented, COuncilman Carter moved that bids be accepted for the addition of a 16' x 30' bay on the north side of the existing building to house the new fire truck with confirmation that theee will be over a foot of spaze room in front of the truck, and to include a 12' door; Councilwoman Beal seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. The method to be used in computing the pro-rata to be charged on the General Telephone sewer line was discussed next. Councilman Carter moved that if it is legal and profitable to the City the pro-rata of $12,000 to be paid by Ben Pinnell properties would become due and payable in cash at 8%0 interest when any part of the property changes hands or when a building permit is issued; Councilwoman Beal seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. City Administrator George Campbell stated that the route for the Bethel-Belt- lina extension through Dallas Power & Light property needed Council approval. Councilman Carter moved that this route be approved; Mayor Pro Tern Hernet seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Council- man Carter then moved that alternate #4 indicating the right-of-way along the existing Bethel Road be used when the road is widened, Mayor Pro Tern Hernet seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. A map showing the four alternates is attached as a permanent part of these minutes. A correction of the minutes of May 8, 1973, is needed concerning the General Telephone sewer line. The minutes should read that General Telephone Co. will pay 75% of the total project cost rather than construction cost. Councilman Carter moved that this correction be made; Mayor Pro Tern Hernet seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Councilman Carter moved that the bills be approved for payment with the exception of the engineering bill from Rady on the General Telephone sewer line; Mayor Pro Tern Hefner seconded and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. The engineering bill will be held for approval by the telephone company also. The meeting was then closed for an executive session. Following the executive session, the meeting was adjourned.
