Notice is hereby given that the Crime Control and Prevention District met on Tuesday,
May 25, 2021 at 5:32 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Center, 255 E. Parkway
Boulevard, Coppell, Texas.
Also present were City Manager Mike Land, City Secretary Ashley Owens, Police Chief
Danny Barton, and Finance Director Jennifer Miller.
Call to Order1.
As a result of recent Declarations of Emergency made by Dallas County and the
City of Coppell in regards to the current pandemic, Governor Abbott has
permitted for governing bodies to meet remotely and to conduct open
meetings virtually.
A quorum was present. President Biju Mathew called the meeting to order.
Citizens’ Appearance2.
President Mathew advised that no one signed up to speak for Citizens'
Appearance.
3.Introduction and History
Presentation: Jennifer Miller, Director of Finance, made a presentation to the

4.Consider approval of minutes for May 26, 2020.
A motion was made by Board member Mark Hill, seconded by Board member
Kevin Nevels, that this agenda item be approved. The motion carried by the
following vote:
Aye:Councilmember Cliff Long;Councilmember Brianna
Hinojosa-Smith;Councilmember John Jun;Councilmember Biju
Mathew;Mayor Pro Tem Mark Hill and Councilmember Kevin Nevels

5.Review of the Crime Control Prevention District budget for FY
2021-2022.
Presentation: Jennifer Miller, Director of Finance, made a presentation to the
Crime Control Board.
6.PUBLIC HEARING: A public hearing on the FY 2021-2022 Proposed
Budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District.
President Mathew opened the Public Hearing and advised that no one signed
up to speak. President Mathew closed the Public Hearing.
7.Adoption of the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 budget for the Crime Control and
Prevention District.
A motion was made by Board member Cliff Long, seconded by Board member
Brianna Hinojosa-Smith, to approve the budget. The motion carried by the
following vote:
Aye:Councilmember Cliff Long;Councilmember Brianna
Hinojosa-Smith;Councilmember John Jun;Councilmember Biju
Mathew;Mayor Pro Tem Mark Hill and Councilmember Kevin Nevels

8.Review of the budget calendar for the Crime Control and Prevention
District.
Presentation: Jennifer Miller, Director of Finance, made a presentation to the
Crime Control Board.
9.Consider election of President and Vice President.
A motion was made by Board member Mark Hill, seconded by Board member
Brianna Hinojosa-Smith, to nominate John Jun for President and Mark Hill as
Vice President.
The motion carried by the following vote:
