CM 1975-06-24110 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS The City Council of the City of Coppell met in regular session on June 24, 1975, in the Council Chambers of the First Bank of Coppell. The following members were present: Hulen Scott, Mayor Sam Tiner, Mayor Pro Tem James Rainey, Councilman Fred Baker, Councilman Councilwoman Beal and Councilman Carter were absent. Also present was City Administrator George Campbell, City Secretary Margaret Johnson, and City Attorney Larry Jackson. The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Councilman Rainey gave the invocation. Mayor Pro Tem Tiner moved that the reading of the minutes of June 10, 1975, meeting be waived, motion was seconded by Councilman Rainey and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Mayor Pro Tem Tiner moved that the minutes of June 10th be adopted with the correction under item 9 showing the one abstaining as Councilman Fred Baker and under item 10 as the one abstaining being Mayor Pro Tem Tiner. Council- man Baker seconded the motion and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Item 4, report from Citizen's Advisory Committee was tabled until such time as Councilwoman Beal might arrive. Motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Tiner that Ordinance No. 148, reducing speed limits on Denton Tap-Beltline Roads to 40 m.p.h. be adopted, motion was seconded by Councilman Rainey and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Item 6, consider adopting industrial waste ordinance was considered next and City Administrator Campbell asked Council to table this until a review by Rady and Associates, City Consulting Engineers. Motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Tiner, seconded by Councilman Baker that this item be tabled, motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. i Item 7, old business was next. City Administrator Campbell advised that the MUD sale of bonds and the awarding of bids for construction on the MUD was to be held on the 30th of June. Mayor Pro Tem Tiner advised that he had talked with Mr. Cornutt on the Ground Breaking Ceremonies for the MUD and a meeting was scheduled to organize this on June 26, 1975, at Z:00 p.m. Item 8, New Business, was considered next and City Administrator Campbell asked that if Council has any budget request that they be turned in as soon as possible. Councilman Baker asked about the installation on a signal at the rail= road crossing on Moore Road at Beltline and this was discussed and the fact the cost had previously prohibited this as it was $25,000. At that time posts with reflectors were put up to help the safety factor. Councilman Baker asked that inquiries be made into the moving of the pile of dirt at that railroad crossing so that the visibility would be better and City Administrator Campbell said that he would look into this but felt that this could be done and he would contact the necessary authorities. Item 9, approval of bills was next. Council questioned the charge of $1.00 by Coppell Mobil for rent of jumper cables and Mayor Pro Tem Tiner asked about the Rady and Associates bill in the amount of $2,713.62 and was advised that this had been authorized previously by Council. Motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Tiner, seconded by Councilman Baker that the bills be approved and motion carried 3-0 with the mayor showing his approval. Item 10, Executive Session (Closed to the public) A. Article 6252-17, Section 2 (g) discussion concerning city personnel. Meeting then adjourned. Hulen A.
