ORDINANCE NO. 2022-1581
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING CHAPTER 2
“BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS” BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE 2-11
ATTENDANCE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has authority to establish boards and commissions, establish
the membership thereof, and provide for qualification of such members; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it should have the duty to determine and
establish an attendance procedure or process to determine that non-attendance is excused.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas be, and the same
is hereby amended by amending Chapter 2 ‘Boards and Commissions’, by adding new Article 2-11
“Attendance”, to hereinafter read as follows:
“CHAPTER 2 – BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
ARTICLE 2-1. LIBRARY BOARD

ARTICLE 2-11. – ATTENDANCE
Sec. 2-11-1
An excused absence, as used in this Chapter, means a failure to attend a regular or special
called meeting of the board or commission, with advanced notification to the Chair or staff
liaison, that is a result of illness, medical condition or service, attendance of funeral for
immediate family member, jury duty, vacation, participation or observance of a religious
holiday, or work-related activity.
Sec. 2-11-2
a)The City Council may review the attendance record of any board and
commission member.
