OR 86-346 City Mg. change orders AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 86346 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 1-5- 6 OF ARTICLE 1-5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TO PROVIDE THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF COPPELL WITH AUTHORITY TO APPROVE CERTAIN CHANGE ORDERS CONCERNING CITY CONTRACTS; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1. AMENDING SECTION 1-5-6 OF THE CITY CODE The City of Coppell Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by amending Section 1- 5-6 of Article 1-5, Chapter 1, to read as follows. The section remains unchanged except for the new text which is underlined below. "Section 1-5-6 AUTHORITY TO PURCHASE AND APPROVE CHANGE ORDERS Section 7.09 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Coppell provides that the City Council may, by ordinance, confer upon the City Manager general authority to contract for expenditures without approval of the City Council for all budgeted items not exceeding a limit set by the City Council. Pursuant to said section, the City Council hereby confers upon the City Manager of the City of Coppell authority to contract for expenditures for the City without further approval from the City Council for all budgeted items not exceeding the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00). Provided further, the City Manager, with the written concurrence of the City Engineer, is authorized to approve change orders on City contracts without further approval from the City Council, so long as the change will not increase the cost to the City over $10,000.00 and there are budgeted funds to cover such cost increase." (Ord. ---) SECTION 2. REPEALING CLAUSE All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of its caption, as the law in such cases provides. SECTION 4.
