BM 2000-06-14 EcDevCOPPELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE June 14, 2000 MINUTES The Coppell Economic Development Committee met at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at Coppell Town Center, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas 75019. The following were present: Bruce Bradford, Tim Brancheau, Bill Herries, Scarlett Hovland, Karen Hunt, Robert Key, Pamela Kurtzman, Gary Roden, Gary Sieb, Jay Thompson, and Councilmember Marsha Tunnell. Call to Order 1. Gary Roden called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Approval of Minutes 2. It was moved by Bill Herries and seconded by Robert Key that the minutes of the May 3, 2000 meeting be approved. The motion passed unanimously. Update on Freeport Exemption Participation 3. Tim Brancheau presented update on Freeport Exemption Participation. Tim continues to follow up with phone calls to the development community that have received the certified letter and agreement. As of this date 11 agreements have been received. Tim Brancheau, Mayor Candy Sheehan and City Manager Jim Witt met with Kathy Oher, Chief Financial Officer for Craftmade concerning the signing of their agreement. Discussion followed. It was suggested that personal visits be made to the company's that have not signed the agreement. Gary Roden, Bruce Bradford, and Jay Thompson volunteered to make visits accompanied by the City Manager and/or the Mayor. Update on Commercial/Industrial Projects 4. Gary Sieb gave an update on the Duke-Weeks Realty Corporation office/warehouse facility. He also gave an update on the Wagon Wheel Park. PSINet agreed to the tax abatement agreement that was proposed. Gary Sieb announced that Marsha Tunnell and Doug Stover would be the council liaison for the committee. Pamela Kurtzman submitted a letter of resignation. She and her family are relocating. The next meeting will be on July 5, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. which will be important in moving forward with the Triple Freeport Tax Exemption. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
