BM 2000-06-15 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of June 15, 2000 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee met on June 15, 2000 at 7pm in the second floor conference room at Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. The following members were present; Steve Mobley, Chairman, Diana Sircar, Richard Murphy, Pat Lambert and Amanda Vanhoozier, City of Coppell, liaison. Members not present were: Ray Foster, Barbara Piels, and Julia Petty. Item one: Call to Order - Steve Mobley called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. Item two: Approval of Minutes from April 20, 2000 Steve made a motion to approve the minutes, it was seconded and the minutes were approved. Item three: Citizen's Forum - There were no citizens present. Item four: Adopt-a-Location Status and Action- MOM'S Club of Coppell was assigned Sandy Lake Road from Hwy 121 to No. Coppell Rd. They are planning a pick up in July. Reminder postcards will be sent to Adopt-a Location groups for second pick-up. Item five: CLEAN CITIES 2000 Status and Review- 1 .) Distribution of science book covers to the Middle School 6th graders for the fall of 2000. Steve will contact the Team Leader of the Science Department at all three CMS. The book covers have been purchased and they sport the Recycle theme. Also under curriculum at the schools, Amanda submitted a NCTCOG solid waste grant application for Community Organic Recycling Education. The grant will provide teacher training, reference libraries, school tours and Master Composter and short compost classes. Grant selection will be released by September, 2000. 2..) HHW Options were discussed according to the summary of information presented by Steve Mobley. A proposal for a third party collection event was reviewed from Philip Services. The committee will present HHW collection options with various scenarios on present costs based on information from other cities. The committee will present to city staff first, then move toward presenting it at a work session with City Council. 3 .) Cardboard Recycling - Waste Management has placed two cardboard recycling bins at Andy Brown Park West. The committee will have a photo taken to put in paper with an article to promote the cardboard recycling drop off site. Diana Sircar asked that cardboard recycling be taken off the list of curbside recyclables on the city website. Item six: New Business to be placed on next meeting's agenda- There was no new business.
