As per our correspondence I am sending the Additional Services for Archeological Study at the
Magnolia Trail job site.
We request your signature below to confirm the scope and fee; however, as requested verbally ,
we are proceeding with the work as described above. If the scope and/or fee is not acceptable,
please notify us immediately. If we do not receive notification of a change within one (1) working
day we will conclude that the scope and fee outlined above is acceptable and we will bill you
accordingly when the work is completed.
Scope
35630.003 -Archeological Survey Scope and Fee
Because the project is being developed by the City, a political sub -entity of the State of Texas, it falls under
purview of the Antiquities Code of Texas (Title 9, Chapter 191 of the Texas Natural Resources Code), which
requires the Texas Historical Commission (THC) to review actions that have the potential to impact
archeo/ogical historic properties within the public domain . In addition, the project requires authorization by
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District (USA CE) pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act,
which is a federal action requiring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
(Section 106).
An intensive archeological survey with shovel testing will be conducted for the project in compliance with
the Antiquities Code of Texas and Section 106. Antiquities Code of Texas permit 31070 has been obtained
from the Texas Historical Commission and the current scope and fee estimate is for the following tasks :
archeological survey, survey report and curation. The survey will include pedestrian reconnaissance and
shovel testing within the project area in accordance with the Council of Texas Archeo/ogist Survey
Standards.
At the conclusion of the fieldwork, Ha/ff will prepare and submit a draft report that summarizes the findings
of the survey and provide recommendations regarding effects to archeo/ogical historic properties. Following
a period of City review and comment, the draft survey report will be submitted for review by THC and
USACEs. After addressing any agency comments, Ha/ff will submit a final report to the City, THC and USA CE

and the project records will be curated at the Center for Archaeological Studies in fulfillment of the
Antiquities Code of Texas permit requirements.
Ha/ff will performed the above outlined scope for a cost not to exceed amount of $11,436. Below are
itemized costs for each task and direct expenses for travel and agency fees.

• formal National Register of Historic Places and State Antiquities Landmark eligibility testing of cultural
resources discovered in the project area,
• deep mechanized trenching,
• an architectural assessment of historic structures, and
• the documentation, exhumation or repatriation of any human burials encountered during the field
investigations.
Should any of the above listed be required, they will be considered out of scope and require additional
services.
