Parkway Boulevard at 7:00 p.m. Regular Session (Open to the Public) 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Library Manager Alexis Wellborn, Also present were Library Board Members Anne Diamond, Frank Gasparro, Patricia Graziano, Carla Madrigal, Haridas Radhakrishnan; Alternate Member Elizabeth Mink; and Youth Advisors Neel Mavalli and Anika Varadharajan. Library Board Chair Martha Garber; Library Board Vice Chair Mathew Ittoop; and Alternate Member Manisha N. Pagedar were absent, Staff in attendance were Library Supervisors Amy-Pittman Hassett and Morgan Pritchett and Administrative Services Coordinator Laurie Arnold. 2. Citizen’s Appearance None. Library Board Minutes December 12, 2024 3, Approval of Minutes from October 10, 2024 & November 11, 2024 Board Member Haridas Radhakrishnan moved to approve the Minutes from October 10, 2024 as presented. Board Member Anne Diamond seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote. , Board Member Frank Gasparro moved to approved the Minutes from the November 11, 2024 Joint Meeting with the Parks and Recreation Board as presented, Board Member Haridas Radhakrishnan seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote. 4. Review and discuss Library Board Goals and Objectives Board Member Haridas Radhakrishan reviewed the Library Board's Goals and Objectives: 1. Participate in the implementation of the Library's Strategic Plan a. Library services reflect the Coppell community and its many facets b. Library services and Information are convenlently accessible to all c. Library maintains a healthy network of partners through the Coppell community d. Library services are provided in an effective and sustainable manner 2. Support and promote the Friends of the Coppell Public Library 3, Promote the Library by active individual participation in Library programs, outreach and community events a. Attend Library programs and Council meetings b. Represent the Library Board at City and civic events c. Actively use social media to market Library activities 5. Youth Advisors’ Reports Youth Advisors Neel Mavalli and Anika Varadharajan thanked the Board. They have enjoyed serving and gaining a better insight into how a library runs and how teens can contribute. 6. Friends of the Coppell Public Library Report Board Member Frank Gasparro reviewed the activities of the Friends of the Coppell Public Library. The Annual Big Book Sale, held in November, was the most successful to date. The sale displayed over 2,500 items and netted over $3,700, This year, 22 new members joined The Friends during the Big Book Sale. The next Friends Meeting will be January 27, 2025, In Meeting Room B at the Library. Ti Library Manager's Report Library Manager Alexis Welllborn reviewed library operations, programs and events. City of Coppell, Texas Page 2 Library Board Minutes December 12, 2024 The Library is continuing to recover from the recent network outage. As the ES department resolved the network issues, library staff entered 7,500 individual checkouts by hand. Thereafter, with the help of volunteers from other Community Experiences departments, staff returned and shelved over 10,000 items. The Library owes a debt of gratitude to all who helped. Recent programs include the Decades Party - ending the Library's Anniversary year with 60 attendees; High School Senior Tours with over 250 attendees; and The Harp Essence Concert with 142 attendees. The Toddler Room glass doors/enclosure has been modified to include a steel frame for more support. The Library congratulates Amy Pittman-Hassett on her 27 years of service and welcomes a new part-time clerk to the team, Miranda Higgins. Upcoming programs include: Elf Academy on December 17th; Bad Art Night on December 18th; and Noon Years Eve on December 31st. The Library will be closed on December 24th, 25th and January ‘1st.
