OR 310 Suspends revisions of Lone Star Gas Co. for 90 days AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS
ORDINANCE NO. 310
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, SUSPENDING THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF PROPOSED REVISIONS OF THE SCHEDULES OF LONE STAR
GAS COMPANY FOR 90 DAYS FROM JUNE 30, 1984, AND REJECTING SAID
COMPANY'S REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY RATE RELIEF; PROVIDING THAT THE
RATES OF SAID PUBLIC UTILITY SHALL REMAIN UNCHANGED DURING THE PERIOD
OF SUSPENSION AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE THEREOF TO SAID PUBLIC UTILITY.
WHEREAS, Lone Star Gas Company has heretofore, on May 25, 1984, filed with
the City Secretary a Statement of Intent and Petition for authority to change rates
for gas service provided by it within the corporate limits of the City, which rates are
to become effective June 30, 1984; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that there is a necessity to consider
the large amount of data in connection with the request and there is a necessity for
a public hearing thereon prior to final determination of the rate request, and consequently
that the operation and effective date of the proposed schedule of rates should be
suspended to allow sufficient time for the Council to deliberate upon the rate request;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
The effective date of the proposed revision of rates of Lone Star Gas Company
for gas service within the City, heretofore filed on May 25, 1984, is hereby suspended
for a period of 90 days from June 30, 1984. The reason for such suspension is to
provide additional time within which to consider the large quantity of factual data, to
conduct public hearings and to deliberate upon the propriety of the request for rate
increase.
SECTION 2.
The rates of Lone Star Gas Company for gas service within the City in effect
on May 25, 1984, shall continue in force during the period of suspension set forth in
Section 1 above or until such further time as the Council may approve temporary rates
to be charged during the period of suspension. The request for temporary rate relief
filed by said public utility is hereby denied.
SECTION 3.
The City Secrtary is directed to furnish a copy of this ordinance to Lone Star
Gas Company.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, this the 26th
